Its a 3G modem. Must be a typo in the catalog.

      • :( bastards got my hopes up.

    • Optus sell their E5377 4G WiFi Modem Kit is $99, I don't think anyone else sells it.
      http://www.optus.com.au/shop/mobilebroadband/prepaid

But it seems to be discounted already (Ebay has it for ~$140+).

      • Harvey norman has it for $79

        http://www.harveynorman.com.au/huawei-e5377-portable-wifi-mo… looks unlock too

        • ooo awesome, thanks!

        • @supabrudda:

New link as they have quietly amended to Optus modem, previously just huawei, better now you get $79 with 5 gigs data

          http://www.harveynorman.com.au/optus-pre-paid-huawei-e5377-p…

        • @paloverde88:
you're a star, I was about to buy one from Optus (as i couldn't find one elsewhere - I didn't think of HN) & with a new signup it was $74.

And I believe it comes with 3mths of free Netflix.

        • @supabrudda:

          Excellent you got a bargain!!

        • @paloverde88:

Does anyone know if this thing is network locked??? The Optus one from havey norman? Thanks in advance.

        • +1

          @roberdingo:

The e 5251 is unlock because I bought 1, but unsùre about e 5377 as I did not buy this one, should be unlock just need to change settings and add APN manually.

        • @roberdingo:
I just picked mine up date from HN (Optus E5377)
I whacked a Telstra sim & it works. (not config'ing)
          So it's unlocked!

          It uses
          3G 900/2100
          4G B3(1800), B7(2600), B28(700), B40(2300)

So that'll cover most in the big cities. B28 is Optus & Telstra new national network.

For $40, one could just use the Huawei Y550s as hotspots. No?

        • Yeah if it was for me, I would…alas it's for the technologically challenged. Oh and the Optus modem can connect to an external antenna.

  • Nice one again Trent.
Any lists of Aussie Post Vodafone phones?

    • Nah m8 you will have to check which ones they have in store

      • I just visited 2 post offices and neither of them sells the gift vouchers I am after. Is there an easy way of finding out which post offices stock the vouchers I am after?

        • Maybe call customer service centre. Don't forget the gift card sale doesn't start till 4th May

        • @TRENT86:

OUCH! Not till 4th of May!!! :(

        • @poiuy1234: LOL Yeah they got a bit ahead of themselves :)

  • does it mean we can buy a cheap basic phone for $19 or sth then grab a free $30 prepaid starter pack?

  • Just got the optus wifi modem. Thanks OP!

    • +1

It comes with 3 months of free Netflix when you activate the sim card also… Great deal!.

      • Thanks for that. Will try during the week.

any deals on netflix gift cards?

  • -2

Does this mean that the Freedom gift cards are only valid from 4th May to 11th May? 1 week?

    • pretty sure it means the 20% off the giftcard purchase.

      not the actual giftcard expiry

      • I'm not so sure. On page 3 of the linked catalogue it says next to the gift cards:

One week only! Valid from 4 until 10 May 2015.

And then at the bottom of the page it says:

On sale 13 April until 10 May 2015 at participating Post Offices…..

        • Strange..
Pretty sure they can't sell gift cards that are only valid for a week

        • I am confused about this valid from 4 to 10 may…

I need to get a few grands worth for a new couch so i dont want to blow my money on worthless cards!

          mixo

        • Don't be ridiculous

        • +1

The gift cards are for mothers day so only 4th - 10th May, the gift cards will last their usual yr expiry or whatever they have

  • Does anyone have the list of Vodafone mobiles available at Auspost?

    • +1

I rang them and they have NFI about this.
They cant "see" the models or prices from the call center. I had to go in the Post Office today and the also had NFI. When I showed them the catalog it was the first time they knew about it. They had no phones at all and one Optus Wifi which I bought.

      Need to find out:
      Available models and prices.
Does the salesperson remove $20 from the price or has it been added already by the sytem?

Aussie Post have no idea about their own stock or current promotions.
Not taking anything away from you though, Trent, excellent post :)

  • How do I apply the voucher discount online? Doesn't seem to be coming up…

  • Just had a chat with HN online - apparently no 3 month netflix trial?

  • +1

Seems to be $25 at officeworks already, for those of you who can't find stock at Auspost: http://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/optus-huawei-…

Had me excited, remember the 20% off The Good Guys gift cards everyone? Good times…

    • Can you please explain? I sense a hint of sarcasm but not sure

      • +2

        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/68504

I think I spent around $5,000 back then on those cards.

        • I bought almost everything electronic for a new home with them…
TV, home theatre, fridge, washing machine, microwave and a few other things,
all for 20% off after my best price matching / haggling.

  • Hey guys, keep in mind that model only seems to have UMTS 900 and 2100, so it will be useless if you're planning on using it with Telstra.
