  • Thanks OP. Been holding off till a new code like this came out to book my domestic travel..

    • I'd be surprised if this code works out cheaper than the fares on sale this past month or so, I've checked a few and all more expensive with this code than when it was on sale.

      • It can be used in conjunction with sale fares.

        • You're right, i'm sure this wasn't the case before can't remember well enough I guess. Though for some reason it's not taking the full 10% off a sale fare, little over 9% roughly for some reason, strange.

  • Does anyone know if the use of this discount code will disqualify the flight as an "eligible sector" for the purposes of maintaining one's Velocity status?

    Thanks.

You will still make get your eligible sector no matter what code is used. I'm a platinum velocity member and I book on discount codes all the time and still get FF points/status/sectors.

      • Thanks for that.

Ts and Cs talk about having to provide work email address. Is this a targeted offer? ie if the email address wasn't eligible will the discount be removed/booking cancelled

Virgin can certainly cancel a booking that is not eligible to use this code. I wouldn't be using it! They have a habit of monitoring here and making sure these kinds of things are investigated.

man its so expensive just going from sydney to melbourne… australia is truly expensive!!!!
at least $200+ return and I got one of this cebu deals to manila for $143 return
    even cheaper travelling around europe
ahh don't mind my whinging sorry :(

    • I feel you mate. Travel every fortnight between Melb and Sydney and its $149 each way on the cheapest fare.at least I save close to $30 with this code.

    • Lol it's probably cheaper to go from Syd to Melb with an international destination as the stopover haha

    • Usually Jetstar and Tiger let you go return for about $50 each way i.e. $100 return. Cheaper if you're willing to go to Avalon instead of Tullamarine.

    • We have the highest minimum wage in the world - its one of the reasons everything is so expensive here.

  • VA7/8 is BNE-LA direct flight, with this code it's pretty close to the cheapest on this route I've seen

This is an offer for Australian Government employees only, i.e. you need to book with a .gov.au email address.

Since the T&Cs state "Details of the offer are not to be shared with any other party, be advertised via social media or any other public channel.", I cannot post the official flyer here. It was distributed to most public servants as Virgin receives a lot of business from the Federal Government for official travel.

The OP has not posted all of the information and this is a misleading offer that could cause people to have their bookings cancelled.

    • Strange, i'm an employee and never got anything about it, thanks for that info though.

      • My (non-government) employer emailed a different code today, the same fine print exists as the bold above.

        • My bad, the code for govt employees is MSV23.

  • where do you enter the code. I can't seem to find anywhere to enter it. The final page gives so payment options, including a gift voucher, but I can't see anywhere to apply this discount.

    Please help

You need to enter the code when you are doing the flight search, not the payment option.

      • Thanks. Works perfectly.

  • i have done heaps of these before with other employee codes. looking at going overseas…. whats the odds of being caught without a gov.au email?

    • It seems like they won't check, there's no stipulation in my (different) employer copy of this promo that a business email must be used.

  • Woo, just got flights to Las Vegas using these. Cheers!

    • Las Vegas? I meant LA… Drunk maybe?

  • Got return tickets to LA in Sept/Oct for ~$808 using this code. Great share!

  • Shame that this only works for flights originating in Australia, and not to Australia.

I'm getting the same price with or without the code. Has the code expired?

    • Works fine for me right now, make sure you read the T&C :)
