These fares take advantage of the recent $180 return fares to Manila from Sydney & some require you to overnight in Manila. The difference between these fares and other travel hacks posted on OZB is that these fares can be booked in one booking rather than 2 or more and the ticketing agency (Skypicker) has you covered if a flight delay causes a problem with the connecting flight.

From the Skypicker website.

We have you covered if you miss your connecting flight due to cancellation, delay, or rescheduling of any of the flights you booked with us during your journey. If such a situation occurs, we will either buy you a seat on the next available flight to your destination free of charge or issue a full refund of your booking.

    Great prices to HK!

Great price to TPE as well. Usually more expensive to fly to TPE than to HK.

  • OP, any accommedation provided for layover?

    • Sorry, no.

    • +2

      Really? For that price…

      • -5

Really. What can you do when you stack at airport for 20 or more hours in the middle of night waiting for transfer?

        • +7

How about using some of the stacks of cash you're saving by flying a low cost carrier and getting a hotel room yourself?

        • +3

At that price, it's already a favour. They owe the passenger nothing. You expect it, but can you find anything remotely comparable? Nope. It's heavily discounted for a reason.

Doh… bought airfare to TPE in May for $950 a week ago

    • From which city in Aus? Also, is it direct or is there a transfer or layover? Need to provide that to make a comparison. Some people do not want transfers and would definitely not want a layover. I understand everyone is different, but when flying to Taiwan I fly direct only. Yes, costs much more but its worth it because I don't have to wait 4 hours in an airport somewhere and definitely don't have to stay overnight. Each to their own, I guess.

      • 4hrs, meh.
Stretch you legs, grab some real food, internet, lay down… even have a snooze at the gate.
24hrs at Chicago o'Hare, with $7 to my name… now that sucked.

I was once approached at an airport by a guy who had no cash. Happily gave him $10. He thanked me for months after that

        • @tomkun01: Nice gesture.
I've done similar with local currency. I had plenty of snacks and magazines, so gave it to a cleaner who cleared my table. Confused, at first. But I explained how/why.

A French friend learnt excellent street English and made massive "tips" in this situation, working at an airport in London. Charming/Schmoozing, like a waiter paid only by tips. Paid to take free English lessons & Wages = Winning.

      • I usually fly SQ but I've been thinking of going with CX or QF especially when the latter two are cheaper and SQ's miles are essentially worthless (they now charge ~$660 for taxes just for using points redemption) and you can fly for ~$720 with CX and a bit more with QF. Plus their layover time in HK is about an hour only.

QF had the best travel time, then SQ, then CX if you don't mind flying or arriving past midnight.

Curious to know who decides. "we will either buy you a seat on the next available flight to your destination free of charge or issue a full refund of your booking."

When I've had changes or cancellations, budget airlines have always offered refunds. The problem has been that a last minute booking is then needed which often means a much more expensive ticket is needed to continue your journey. Would skypicker simply refund in situations where it is more economical for them?

  • is CEBU Pacific safe?

    • +10

Well, it's unlikely you'd crash more than once so…

    • Hey, I'm still alive!

4 hours transit time is not enough. Cebu flights often delay for hours. Well they will send you to the next flight though, likely next day in this case. And their check in takes you 2 hours, always the longest queue in Sydney airport in the morning. go for it if time worth nothing to you.

  • If you don't need the convenience of having both flights on the same itinerary, it's quite a bit cheaper to book separately. E.g. for Seoul: SYD<->MNL $180 + MNL<->ICN $201 = $381.

CEBU pacific transfers are an epic nightmare. Good luck to anyone who takes up these offers. I would fly with them direct. But never again would i try and do a transfer with them.

    • even direct…id much rather go air asia

  • The sales is not applied for Xmas and New Year time ? any sales atm for Xmas and New Year to Philippines ?

    • Just for May at the moment.

As already mentioned do not do a 4hr transfer! You need a 24hr transfer….and 4 hours each way to the airport because of Manila traffic if you get a hotel in the city.

    Here is a sample of the beloved terminal 3 (Cebu Pacific) to warm you up;

Actually the times I have had short transfers there was hardly anyone in the terminal, but they still couldnt organise everyone to go through to get the flight on time. They managed to get our bags on the plane but not us. They are seriously so incompetent that its not funny. It was the most painful experience of my life
