Would have been a good price if it was portable.

    • Yeah, I know but still its a good price for 2TB.

      • It's

        • Or "it is" is also acceptable

        • My bad yeah "It's". Thanks for pointing it out… :)

    • I don't like external drives which require power because it is another point of failure. If the power supply dies then you have to hunt for another one that works.

You can mix and match power adapters from external hard drives, as long as you're sensible. I haven't run into any issues doing that for years.

Typically most are 12V and ~2A with a low of 1.25A and a high of 3A.

I believe the larger, 'laptop-style', rectangular power adapters regulate amperage as required.

I thought this was normal price

  • Are there any decent deals on 1TB/2TB portables at the moment? Checked Officeworks/JB the other day and nothing D:

I'm sure I've seen this cheaper than $99 on OzB. Around the $80 mark?

    Needs to be cheaper. :/

EDIT: $79 with coupon - old link: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/166819

Also, can anyone provide a reliable brand for an external desktop hard drive? Reading one of the comments in the $79 link is a cause of concern. :/

Nothing special about that price. Sorry OP but not a deal

Isnt $99 like standard for 2tb external drives

  • +1

AusPost are doing 1.5TB portable drives for $99. Each to their own but I'd sacrifice storage for portability.

  • This is standard pricing for a 2tb powered external hdd.

  • Have 5 of these for work in varying sizes and no problems yet. Had about 3 2.5" drives fail on me over the years however. These powered 3.5" drives are more reliable for me at least.
