lol, I found it earlier this morning and just realised that no one put it up.

      • It's good that there's no minimum purchase price to get it :)

  • Groupon gift cards say expire 30/4/15. But then the one I bought said that and when it arrived it said valid 6 months. Hmmmmm

    • So the extended expiry date is printed on the gift card?

    • It was printed in Nov, 2014 ?

      • From memory there was no expiry date printed on the gift card, just something to the effect of 'gift card valid for 6 months from purchase date' on the back

    • Just had a Live Chat with Groupon, and the rep said that the gift cards do expire at the end of this month.

The last card I ordered took a little over a week to arrive, which means we would need a WW deal to come along pretty much straight away.

Unfortunately looks like we might not be able to get the WW ecards if they return past the 30th April

      [Mary G.] Thanks for waiting.
[Mary G.] This deal is actually a new deal for the $50 giftcard.
[Mary G.] The gift card expire on that date which is 30.04.15 based on the deal page.

They have changed the expiry date since this original deal was listed

  • Beat me by 12 min dam just woke up.

  • I purchased this Yum cha deal - http://www.groupon.com.au/deals/sydney/pier-nine-chinese-res…

becareful with cashback, sometimes when you used coupon code, it make the transaction not eligible for cashback. this is what the rep told me.

  • Best deal is to buy 3 x $50 Groupon Gift Card and spend them on the WW ecards once the deal finishes.

I don't see the WW cards on the site anymore.

    • +2

      once the deal finishes

It is predicted they'll be back once the 15% deal is over. It's to minimise people stacking the deals. There's a risk…

  • Can only apply the discount to one item - if you buy 3x Groupon GC, you will only get the 15% off one if you put together.

So have to order in three separate orders.

    • I'm a bit wary due to the GC saying they expire on 30/4/15..

      • Oh I missed that. I think that's pretty unlikely to be the case. The ACCC would have a field day & I imagine you'd get your money back if that was the case and you were unhappy with it.

Oh well, let's see how it goes.

  • Edit: Here are the $50 gift cards

Edit2: Just bought one. Voucher valid to: 01.08.2015

    http://www.groupon.com.au/deals/national-deal/gg-groupon-goo…

    • Did you ring them to get the expiry date? Guy above is saying he contacted CS and they said 30/4/15 =/

    • Hmm I contacted their online chat also, and they seemed to confirm expiry is the end of April this year, which is ridiculous really, and who knows how they check (they probably just look at the webpage themselves). Where does it mention the expiry of 01.08.2015? in an email?

    • voucher is not the gift card.. it's just their way to avoid paying GST

      • I thought no GST on gift cards? Technically they aren't sales but just turn you into its unsecured creditors?

  • +1

Do you know if I could buy a groupon gift card using the autumn15 code and then buy a deal and then also use the autumn15 code with the groupon voucher.

    • I doubt, it appears that it won't allow you to accept more than one code per transaction.

      • Isn't it an actual physical card that needs to be mailed out? If so then the AUTUMN15 code will be long over.

EDIT: Actually maybe they are indeed E- gift cards.

        • They are physical cards, so no way to double dip on this deal.

        • +1

@Jahnah: I have a GC with me and tried it, it doesn't allow u to enter more than one code!!

  • when does this deal expire ?

  • any cheap tailor made suits?

  • Well I can 2nd what @dmac said, the voucher for the Groupon gift card shows "Voucher valid to: 01.08.2015" - so on that basis alone they'reable to be used up until that date, regardless of what anyone's been told via a call or chat - I'd assume the customer service staff don't have the correct/latest info.

    I bought two of them.

    • Are they eGift Cards or ones that need to be mailed out? Thanks.

      • I'm assuming theyre eGift cards as when you download the voucher they have a voucher code and security code, also again states "This voucher is valid until: 01.08.2015".

So IMHO based on that there's effectively zero chance of being stuck with a voucher you have to use before the end of APR.

        • +1

again, i must stress.. The voucher is not the gift card

        • +3

no i bought one the other time and that email you get which tells you the voucher code and security code is NOT the gift card as knackers says.

Your gift card will be mailed out to you and have a code like VNSD6J. Only this kind of code will apply $50 off your purchase on groupon. Hope that helps

        • @knackers: Excellent point and I appreciate you correcting me - my apologies for the error. Well Groupon do make the whole process very opaque now then don't they.

As it seems very contradictory to say that they gift card's expire on 30APR - but to issue a voucher (and I really have no idea what the actual purpose of this for the consumer is?) that states it's valid until 01AUG15.

I know you stated above that the voucher is Groupon's way of avoiding paying GST - and without getting into the tricky rules of businesses and their GST paying commitments/minimisation strategies I do again wonder why at all this downloadable voucher is in your Groupon account area if, it's presumably good for nothing.

          Thanks in advance.

        • @Nikko: Yeh it would seem that a few companies are exploiting a loophole in our taxation system. The customer purchases a voucher which is redeemed when the customer receives the intended item. It's also a way to dodge consumer protections, eg. returns. Although I've never had issues returning stuff to Groupon(I'm guessing that's more due to the backlash from consumers on social media).

        • @knackers:

So what would happen if you didn't even receive the gift card before the expiry date I wonder? Surely must be illegal in some way?

        • @knackers: I see exactly what you're saying and it makes sense.

However, one'd logically think that if a consumer purchased a voucher it would be up to the consumer to then go ahead and 'redeem' the voucher if/when they wanted….hence I assume thats why they put the valid too date on the voucher itself. However, Groupon seem to automatically/default redeem the voucher of their own choosing - which does IMHO seem to show that the voucher is really no voucher at all and merely a token extra piece of documentation to a transaction.

So if thats getting them around the ATO I'm very surprised.

        • @Nikko: yeah I agree, but as you know the ATO is bound by an antiquated taxation system. New legislation is needed before they can go after these companies. Which is not likely to happen if Corps are allowed to make donations to political parties.

  • sorry noob question but what does "WW" stand for?
    world wide .?
    damm i'm so behind lol

    • Woolworths

    • Woodrow Wilson? Willy Wonka? Walter White?

  • Is there a way to check when the gift card expires after I have received the card in the post? With the WISH gift card for example, we can check the current balance online, anytime we like.

  • OK, I'm confused. Do the Gift Cards expire on 30 April or not?

    • +1

I don't think you're the only one ( I am too ) but looks like they issue you a voucher that you can access almost straight away which has an exp date of 01.08.2015. But this voucher isn't the gift card itself, which is in fact an actual physical card that they mail to you. As to the expiry of the card, it mentions 30 Apr 2015 on the webpage and all correspondence with their online chat indicates that this is in fact the actual exp date, which seems ridiculous. The card may even arrive after the 30th Apr if you are unlucky. I haven't bought one before but others on here have and that's how I understand how it works.

The question still remains whether the exp date on the card will be 30 Apr 2015 which is what Groupon indicates, or whether it will have another date as someone else has mentioned, ie 6 months from purchase.

  • There is no way these vouchers will expire less a month, they are generated on the spot, all vouchers from other shops last from 3-6months a least, these guys don't have a clue about there own products.

    • From Groupon Customer Rep:

Clarky: The Groupon gift cards say they expire 30 april 2015
April: As I check the information, you are correct. The validity of the Groupon gift card is up until the end of the month, 30.04.2015.
Clarky: So who will buy one then?
April: Regretfully, that is the validity of the deal being advertised.

      :(

      • +6

        ironic her name was April?

        • +6

Should ask to transfer to May or June :)

        • Thought the same thing. Wondered if she gave herself that screen name.

        • +1

@clarky: Maybe they got sick of answering the same question, so they were trying to drive the point home

        • +2

@marquise: "Hi you are speaking with April Thirty, can I help you?"….

        • the gift cards WILL expire by the end of April.

  • The gift cards are now showing as SOLD OUT.

  • Its a Gamble but I bought couple of $50 gift cards…..You have to be In it to win it

    • +2

It's paid off now. Expires on 30/11/15. Site updated now.

      • +1

Thats a relief.Cheers Mate. Although now i feel should have bought 3

  • I know you guys keep saying it expires end of April when you talk to them but at the bottom of the deal(under Features) it says:
If you purchased after 25 Mar 2015, your Gift Card expires on: 30 Nov 2015

Do you think we can counter argue with them?

    • Yes they have updated the expiry date now. I just received an email from them after I requested a refund:

"Thank you for contacting Groupon Australia and sorry for all the confusion caused with this purchase.

Please be informed that the your 3x $50 Groupon Gift Card expiry only on 01.12.2015. As stated in the fine print of the deal https://www.groupon.com.au/deals/national-deal/gg-groupon-go… please be informed that No refunds for change of mind.

Unfortunately we are unable to process refund in this case.

I hope this helps clear up any confusion. Please let me know if you have any questions."

so all good now it would appear.

      • Great timing considering they are sold out

The 15% coupon is listed on cashrewards so you will pick up an 4.25% cashback by going to Groupon from here http://www.cashrewards.com.au/coupons/get-15-off-up-to-50-ma…

  • Ordered a deal yesterday when I received this discount offer. Went through with no problems.

  • +1

Bah honestly Groupon really is a shoddy bunch.

Ordered 3 of these back on 15APR and a week later they're advising atleast another 15days wait until they deliver the cards!!!!!

I really don't know how you justify such a delay when they're your own gift cards (e.g print on demand). Groupon just make crap up to suit their own purposes.

  • Just got my gift cards, Now have to wait for egift cards to go on sale

    • Can you tell us when your gift cards expire?

      • +1

Back of the card it says expires 6 month from date of purchase. No other information is given regarding expiry so only way to know for sure is to use it.
