  • Deal link doesn't go to deal, and/or the website doesn't have the product listed…

I would just like more details on the drive, what is the model number?
Is it the "Touro Mobile MX3 Black 500GB"?

If it is, it seems to have a 7200RPM drive, so should be fairly quick!

    Excellent value, IMO :)

    • Box simply says 'Touro Mobile 500GB'

  • +2

Just called box hill - No stock, although the bloke didn't have any idea what i was talking about. :(

  • How are these compared to the leading ones? Are these chinese rebranded ?

    • +2

HGST was previously Hitachi and now owned by WD.

  • Is it on that catalogue? It does not load.

    • Nah it isnt

  • +7

It doesn't appear to be on their site anymore, but found a cached version of the product page here : http://web.archive.org/web/20140325203358/http://www.bigw.co…

SKU : BIGW_8390289 if anyone is interested.

    • That looks like it.

    • thanks for that.
when I gave the sku over the phone the woman said that sku is an online sku and the one's in store a different. she said her sku's are 6 numbers and one's online are 7 (but she found it via the description I gave her)
Has anyone heard of that before?????????
then i drove down and picked one up. realised they had 6 left in stock.

Pretty sure this is part of the drop zone clearance, so very much a per-store basis

    • Just picked up 2 1Tb and 1 500gb from blacktown

  • In 2013 they had the Verbatim 500 GB for $30. Still works flawlessly.

Capalaba store has 7 in stock, well now 6 In stock cause I just got one. It's locked up in glass case without a ticket, so you might have luck getting some stock from there

  • Any in WA? Have called Riverton, Spearwood and Livingston so far.

    • did you found any? I don't think they even know what's that. :)

Just picked up 2 from Doncaster. There's 2 left but it's been reserved. Thanks OP

    • +1

Pretty sure they aren't allowed to put drop zone goods on reserve.

      • Really ?? Well the manager approved it as long as it was picked up before 6pm. Winning

          Ey man… u got a great deal. 👍

        • +1

Thanks amigo!. Hope u got one as well.

        • +2

Yep, thought you and others weren't getting a fair go because someone reserved it and you missed out. Plus your use of tense made me misinterpret your comment, "just picked" meant you already got it, then you used "there's 2 left but it's been reserved" which is present tense making me believe there were two others that someone else had on hold that no one else could buy.

And to whoever that negged my comment - this is why more people don't like revealing where they work. Use your negs responsibly, not when I'm trying to contribute to the community with some inside knowledge. If you have a bone to pick with me reply to the comment and state your point rather than hiding behind your computer screen feeling empowered because you remain anonymous.

        • Nah, I didn't miss out scored 2 the other 2 someone had put a hold on it.

        • @boozler: Good stuff mate! I think we had those drives sitting in the cupboards for days until someone bought all of it. Would have bought one myself but I have about 5TB of spare space sitting around already lol

  • what about SA ?
    any stores info plz

  • I checked with BIGW Canberra Airport non left but I bought the 1TB for $60 SKU-8390376.(regular price is $94) There are 6 1TB's left in stock• hope ozbargainers may like the 1TB.

    • Well done!

  • Brisbane CBD (McArthur Central) has none!

    • Saved me 15 minutes tomorrow (y)

  • Saw these but passed as 500GB isnt too useful for me and I wasn't sure about the "Touro" brand.

  • I saw these on the weekend at BigW Pakenham. They also had 1TB Touro for $60 and Western Digital 750GB for $40. I just couldn't justify a use for one.

    • +3

      Duuuuuuuude?!

Are you sure you're on the right website?

      • +1

LOL yeah I really wanted to buy one but already have a server, NAS and plenty of portables already, plus random HDD just laying around.

      • +2

A bargain is something you can't use at a price you can't resist! lol

  • Sold out @ BIG W CUMBERLAND PARK SA :(

  • anyone checked the HDD inside? SATA port, or soldered USB? Would love to have 4 for NAS.

    • Aren't you better off buying 1 off 2tb for $120? $120 seems to be normal price for most brands.

      • NAS needs raid hence need multiple drives.

        • +1

no soldered usb, Standard SATA port.

  • Sold out at Capalaba Park and Carindale QLD

  • I managed to get the 1TB from Forest Hill (VIC) about 2 weeks ago for $60 but I'm pretty sure all gone by now.

  • None at Stocklands Burleigh (Gold Coast).

  • None at BigW Jesmond NSW

  • These drives have been at this price since end of March in the Drop Zone sale so most places will probably have no stock by now.
    I bought 4 750gb WD drives @ $40 each on the 26/3 https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/187435#comment-2646263 didn't have a need really but i'll find some use for them :-)
The Touro is decent drive I've been using couple for the last 3yrs, bought during a trip to the Uk, and still going strong.
