  • Anyone used these and can comment on the quality?

  • Cheers OP, pretty decent deal! Not sure I'd use them in a server room, but should be good for home use.

While I agree that most of the people use WiFi, the truth is when u need to stream the 1080p or even 4k video within ur local network, u will find WiFi is not the best choice due to the high cost of the ac router and the signal reception issue.

      • No comment for 4k but sounds right, but 1080p streaming is nothing for wireless N

        • +3

Except wireless is a shared medium, so if other people are using it, then you wont have the full bandwidth availiable. Also there's no degrdation of signal or such with wired.

Its always best to wire any fixed equipment to reduce the bandwidth used by wireless devices.

    • Cool story bro

    • my network is WIRELESS!

      How is your IQHD connected?

Thank u~ Was looking for the cheap cable yesterday. Luck to find this offer, save me about $20.

  • @tuzii - anyone who doesn't want gigabit speeds and whoever wants mediocre network stability. Home use perhaps is acceptable. Good find

    $8 shipping kills it

    • +3

Yeah true, that's why you pickup :-P

Should have $8 shipping in title. Can get it cheaper on ebay when you factor that in.

    • Is 6e a recognised standard?

      • +1

        Nope.

        http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category_6_cable#Category_6e
Following the finalization of Cat 6, a number of manufacturers began offering "Category 6e" cables as an enhancement to the Category 6 standard—presumably naming it after Category 5e. However, no legitimate Category 6e standard exists,[8] and Cat 6e is not a recognized standard by the Telecommunications Industry Association.

Do not buy network cable from msy. http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/1425962

        • So…….?
It's a "dumb" cable, not a codec etc.

          @Utopian:

When you're dealing with Gigabit (or even 10GbE) speeds, the tiny differences in twisting (UTP is unshielded twisted pairs), wire thickness, termination, precise length matching (Ethernet signalling is differential), etc., can have a massive effect. I've lost count of the number of "Cat6e" cables that completely fail to perform at 100Mbit, let alone 1Gb or higher. They're often very poorly constructed and would fail even Cat5e certification.

It's a passive cable, yes. But when you operate at over 100 million oscillations per second, the tiny differences matter, and that's why a certification process exists and why it's so important.

Op - best to update it to just a range of cables … some good 3.5mm to 3.5mm audio cables etc as well in the list for a few $$$.

  • 10m cable available at hurstville nsw and chullorra

  • Deal finished in a hour or so!!

So 15M now $49.98 and 10M same at $49.98!! ARE THEY SERIOUS!

So sick of these Dodgy Dickie Deals that are gone on the blink of an eye and then revert to some ridiculous $$!!

    • They increase in price when the stock is low perhaps.

  • Not happy, just received a call today at 1.10pm from Dick Smith after successfully placing an order at 7.45pm last night stating that "we've refunded $8.18 to you as we don't have stock of the 2 x 15m Cat6 cables you ordered. Your Eneloop Pro batteries are ready for collection however." And yet, when I look online they are showing as still available for both delivery and click and collect.

  • Got the same call no stock, refund money. sounds like dodgey staff taking the cables themselves.

  • Staff didn't seem too happy that it was being sold so cheap, but gave it to me none the less.

  • I received a paypal email today advising my payment had been refunded. I bought 11 different items, so don't understand what is going on?

When I visited the local store on Thursday to collect a separate order I was told everything was in stock for my second order but hadn't been picked yet.

  • Well my order arrived today - not the same cables I ordered last time - these have no sleeve so if you yank it the clip will snap off, and 10mt was blue colour rather than black… For the price I paid I can't complain but I'd never pay full price for a cable of the quality they supplied!

    • Yeah I bought a bunch of 5 metre CAT 6 cables and they are all blue, I was really after the black ones.
But your right, for the price I can't be bothered taking them back.

Did anyone happen to see if they had mini display port to HDMI cables on special?
