  • not as good as the deal from it estate tho, not a bad price i guess. Hopefully screen cracking issue isn't in this model.

less than $100 extra for Au stock plus 24 months of warranty instead of just 1, it's totally up to you

      • i cant seem to find the 2 year warranty on the site are u sure about that?

        • pretty sure, MSY dont sell grey import Sony phones.

  • +1

Probably good to confirm the exact version of this model, to make sure it is the Australian one. Otherwise it may not support the newer 4G bands.

    • MSY always sells Au stock Sony smartphones, same as the Z1 and Z Ultra deals back then

  • +2

The Xperia's are hit and miss phones (lots of known faults) and the service from Sony is absolute $hit.

    Caveat emptor

    • My Z2 magnetic charger is stuffed. And the battery doesn't seem to hold a good charge.

Other than that it feels well made.

I kind of agree, but my experience with other brands has been the same, including LG. My LG phone was unstable, and received no more updates shortly after being released.
I have a Sony Z1 - truly fantastic photos (when the camera app does not crash…), especially with HDR support. Great screen, great stability and performance. I can get 3 days out of a battery (low usage) or 2 days (frequent usage).
As for support: I reported the camera crash issue, which is known to be a global issue across the Z1/Z2/Z3 range, but support wouldn't touch it as my phone is grey-import.
I would probably buy Sony again, because the camera is really good and that matters to me. But apart from that, I'd consider a <$200 Chinese phone with the same snapdragon 800 chipset.

      • Agreed, their all fairly fragile little computers we're carrying around.

However the after sales support I experienced from Sony was something else, I'll be very reluctant to buy another, despite being good value phones.

I've owned original Z and now have a Z3 and both have been excellent phones so far.

The Z still powers really strong today.

IMO the Z3 is the best flagship Android phone at the moment overall when you take into account the screen, battery life, camera and specs.

I just hope I never have to deal with any warranty support during my ownership… Going by other people's experience.

    • "Z3 is the best flagship Android phone at the moment"

…it's only got battery life going for it; there are many others that trump it on those other factors you've listed.

Also the Sony software is bloated with useless apps, e.g. Small Apps.

      • Hence why I said it's my opinion.

You're welcome to yours as well.

I don't mind other brand phones but have a personal dislike for anything Samsung branded.

        • Oh OK.

I was interested in your opinion and was hoping that you could try to justify your opinion. Nm

  • Better to get a z3 compact for that price

    • +3

Link to Z3 compact local stock for under $400?

      • -3

Not under 400 lol. But for about 70 bucks more u can get the the latest compact model from uniquemobiles

        • +1

I'd be a bit wary of Unique Mobiles. They take ages to process an order and sometimes items are sold when there's no stock.

I'd go with DWI for more reliable service.

  • I bought and paid for this item on Sat, got an email today saying it was RMA and was being sent for repairs. Not happy as I bought a case and tough screen protector for it on Sunday.

    • So I have a case mate barely there case, brand new. paid $20, selling for $14 - includes shipping.

      PM me.
