Might help to include info such as data speeds (3/4G) and who the host telco network is.

    3G and Vodafone.

No and no. Little wonder it's so cheap.

For some people Vodafone works fine. Also, not everybody requires 4G.

I mean if I took that attitude I would say all offerings in Australia are no good as in other countries they are already preparing the next gen after 4G.

There are different offerings in Australia for different target groups.

This is a good offer for people who just want unlimited calls and texts and a little bit of data, and who are "old-fashioned" in the sense that they are able to wait a couple of seconds rather than desiring instant appearance of websites.

After Voda upgraded their coverage in my area. My wife's Voda service has stronger signal on her mobile than my Telstra service. It is like $9 per month with unlimited talk/text plus 1GB.

I guess it still suits a lot of people.

        • To be honest it's my experience that any network other than Telstra offers marginal improvements with 4G and is essentially not worth much if any additional cost compared to 3G. And for me not worth the additional battery drain of both transmitting and recieving data over a 4G connection and the cycling between 3 and 4G (granted this can be minimised or eliminated at will through user settings).

Doesn't matter how fast the theoretical capacity of a wireless connection is if it's simply a poorly covered like much of Adelaide.

Couldn't agree any more. Good luck getting reception where I am. You'd have to stand on the bonnet of your car holding the phone up in the air.

  • I'll give it a go. I was planning to go on boost $20 plan but might try a bit of monthly porting on a few of the half price start up deals first.

  • How much does it cost if the cost exceeds 2 mins?

  • If anyone who takes up this offer and finds the Vodaphone coverage ok, then consider Lebara. They have unlimited calls and text with 2gb data for $29.90 per month.

Anyone else sick to death of bait and switch prepaid deals this year?
