    Great deal for $0 .. and a better deal 8 weeks extra at $1 .. thx mihiroffer - well done .. :-)

    • Thanks for more information!

    • Except I think statistically this will go the way of the Udemy course, people will get it and then come back a year later and it will have expired.

  • Do we have to cancel after 8 weeks?

      nope.

      pay or do nothing

      • No, if you preferred to go on with the subscription, as Look45Bs mentioned:

THANKS - for $1 for an additional 8 weeks on the 'free', well I took up the offer. Set a reminder to send an email for the 1 Aug (sub to end 9 Aug)

EDIT - I note it's a Web and Smartphone sub - I would 'assume' that iPad is not included ??

nope… this is no an iPad subscription :(

Works for me on the website but the app refuses to let me see more than 10 articles. Jerk app.

    • +1

Check if you are logged in on the app

      • Yup. No biggie. Website > app.

Thanks OP! Hope we can do this every 8 weeks

  • I wonder if the "$1 for an additional 8 weeks" offer is only valid when you sign up for the free offer, or will you be offered that again at the end of the first 8-week trial period, when you have had a chance to decide if the paper is worth reading?

Yes, I do realize it's only ONE dollar we are talking about here… 8-) But it does mean you will need to provide them with some payment details for it.

great deal but theres already free stuff online like google news or smh or news.com.au
what makes this a better place to join up for just 8 weeks?

SMH had a paywall ~20 pages per month (or week, I can't remember). To by-pass I just read using incognito on Chrome.

      • woah thats for the tip!
its actually 30 pages now for the month and i normally stop the page from loading just to get enough content if i wanted to read a page lol but thanks again for the tip :)

The decline and fall of the NYT has been one of the most fascinating things I've ever seen.

Pretending to be unbiased while skewing heavily to the left just didn't work in the internet age.

    The key word is "pretending".

  • Thanks for the post. It works on an iPad also!
