        • @eug: That means the general discount to everyone was more than ozbargain exclusive code for many items.

        • @Gaggy: Yup, for that item in particular anyway. There are other deals which are better though.

        • @eug: I could not find any.

        • @Gaggy: Have a read through all the posts here. Like the one directly underneath this one, for example.

  • Ordered Logitech Harmony 350 for $28.02 delivered.

The cheapest price on static ice / eBay is $34.95.

    PRODUCT SKU PRICE QTY SUBTOTAL
    Subtotal : $30.08
    Delivery : $7.95
    Discount (DROP10) : -$10.00
    Grand Total (Excl.Tax) : $25.47
    Tax : $2.55
    Grand Total (Incl.Tax) : $28.02

Was looking at GTA V but the $7.95 postage kinda kills it. Why don't they have stock in most stores!

edit - wait nevermind, Coupon code "DROP10" is not valid.

second edit - reason for neg - doesn't say NOT VALID ON GTA V PC GAMING SOFTWARE but it is NOT VALID.

    • +4

      Descriptive exclusion list.
      Reports of price hicking.
      Neg for me.

      • +2

        Deceptive*

      • +6

I doubt they would actually bother price hike the items just because they did a ozb special coupon code. lol.

DS prices change all the time, since they do X-Day specials, e.g. special for next 2 days or next week or something. They never really specify the days it will be on special for.

Sometimes it just happens that the old price expires when another special e.g. eBay sales. Which is why people start pointing fingers saying "THEY PUSHED THE PRICES UP TO OFFSET THE SALE!!!".

Not defending them, but usually people pull out pitchforks because they cannot get a cheaper than cheap price for a item they are after. They expect a retailer to let them stack 10 coupon codes to get a item for super cheap!

  • So the code's not valid for any Logitech product?

e: Tried F710 gamepad, no bueno

    • +1

bought +drive ip5 mount and worked

      • ya tried add something else, works, but really don't need anything else…

  • +4

It's only $10. DROP the exclusions list (ok ok, except gift cards)!

Screwing us around with an "ozbargain exclusive" that doesn't tend to the ONE PROBLEM that we have most with dick smith is not acceptable!

On a more specific note, the fact it can't be used to buy a gaming controller is sick. EG: PS4 controller.. you've sold them for $71.98 recently without a coupon. Why annoy us over the extra $1.98?

    • -2

124 people don't seem to have a problem with the exclusions list.

      • +7

Of 2613 people we have 115 positive votes and no idea what the other 2498 think. So what's your point?

        • -6

So all those 2,613 people are registered users, are they?

Look, not everything is only about your wants and needs. If a retailer offers a discount that doesn't suit you but evidently suits many others, then it's a good deal. Check the OzB voting guidelines - if the deal doesn't concern you, then do not vote.

DSE did not have to offer discounts to anybody at all. What they've done here is offer it to people who aren't interested in a phone mount, prepaid/gift cards, gaming consoles, and games. And that's a good number of people. If the deal doesn't concern you, don't vote. This deal has absolutely nothing to do with you.

        • +7

          @eug:
He's (and me) isn't negging because it doesn't suit him. He's negging because DSE are doing their normal deceptive BS marketing, not listing everything in the exclusion list and hiking the price of items.

If the exclusion list was complete and still didn't have anything of interest to me, I wouldn't have negged.

Stop trying to be a pseudo-mod warrior and accept people have differing opinions than yourself.

        • +2

          @PainToad:

He's (and me) isn't negging because it doesn't suit him.

Dunno about your vote, but he clearly said:

It's only $10. DROP the exclusions list!

Isn't that clearly negging because of the exclusions list? That means the sale just doesn't suit him.

It's like Myer offering a 50% discount on clothes, and along comes someone negging the deal because they're interested in TVs and those aren't on sale.

Stop trying to be a pseudo-mod warrior and accept people have differing opinions than yourself.

Why so defensive? Nobody is attacking you. Am I not allowed to voice my opinion here?

          @eug:
Perhaps he didn't word that well.

  • Dick could make heaps more with an Eneloop exclusive for OB!

  • Just ordered a Sony SRS-X3 for $89.00 (C+C), as it is currently on special here - http://www.dicksmith.com.au/speakers/sony-portable-speaker-s…

Not the cheapest it has been ($70.93 during 20Frenzy) but I am happy with the price.

There were at least 30 available at the Warringah Mall store.

    Thanks.

    • Just saw chinaman post above (it was on page 2 when I posted). I can confirm that SRSX3 is $89.00

  • Could buy some eneloops, since those are never on sale ;)

DICKS knows us better now, no more trick and no deal!

Honestly, I don't know why anyone on OzBargain would expect an actual from Dick Smith anymore. Since they were sold by Woolworths their online store have really gone downhill. Online Customer Service is hopeless and they are full of quasi-deals. Their stores seem decent though if there is an actual catalogue deal, or need to deal with a return, or some such.

      • +1

They are doing something right because they are making way more money now than when woolies owned them

        • Becoming more profitable by cutting back costs like hiring overseas staff and getting strict on their return policies.

        • +2

@The Land of Smeg: Yep like other companies :) Gotta be smart these days if you want to make money in Aus

        • They are cashing in on the unaware, stupid and naive. I Don't blame them either. But that's what they are doing.

        • @TRENT86: Of course, I can see why they are doing it, they need to compete with online retailers who offer the same level (of low) service. It's a race to the bottom. All I'm saying is that the new Dick Smith, at least the online section, have really dropped their standards in Customer Service from where they were before, and the only thing they still carry the same is the name/brand, which really isn't worth much these days. It's practically like the re-birth brands like "Stan Cash"/"Billy Guyatts" (same mob) who really have nothing to do with the old brands except they bought the name. The Deals, in general, simply aren't that good at Dick Smith anymore and OzBargainers should take Dick Smith with a grain of salt.

  • Was wavering about buying ~ $30 worth of USB drives. Promo code works but click n' collect only items and no stock. At least Hardly Normal's broken system allows you to select delivery on a pick up only item and then they'll back order it for you and change it to pickup or if it feels like it allows pickup from an out of stock store offering back ordering. Bleh. Don't really need the drives anyway, but drives for $0.50/GB are hard to find.

  • Bought the Logitech M560 for $21.49 pick-up - which is $14 cheaper than the next on staticice. Few mixed reviews, but time will tell if it's any good I guess…

  • +1

Holy crap the eneloops have been jacked up! (actually need some too!)

    • lmao $40 for a pack of 8.. yeah nah

wouldda been awesome if they had the standard sale in conjuction with this code.. 2x$15-$10 = 16 eneloops for $20 C&C.. but then again they're never available for C&C.. so essentially you'd just get the usual shipping of $7.95 discounted.. 16 eneloops for ~$28.. still not a "bargain" anyway lol

  • expired? says not valid now..
still works, seems to be the items i am trying to buy that won't let me use the code

  • GTAV not on exclusion list, GTAV excluded. blatantly misleading advertising.
