Probably the first decently priced powerbank in Australia

Mushtato (and users who voted this deal) might disagree: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/174006

      • My experience with mushato is hit and miss, bought a display port to HDMI cable from them and it didn't work, despite looked last like apple's one.

  • godd price especially for 15000mAh. Thanks OP

    This or xiaomi?

    • I have the xiaomi 16000mah and I find that it charges my phone really slowly.
      Anyone else have experiencing this?

      • No, you should be able to get a 2amp throughput charge with a Xiaomi. I do. Are you using a high quality cable?

        • I'll check my cable. I have thrown out quite a few shitty cables. The one I usually use is a samsung cable with my S3

        • +23

          @photonaturally:

Get one of these, handy for weeding out all your crappy or broken cables.

          http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/USB-Charger-Doctor-Mobile-Power-D…

        • @ash2000: Thanks ash2000, ordered one.

        • @ash2000:
I was actually looking for one of these. Thanks a lot!

        • +3

@ash2000: how you can tell a bad cable if this device is measuring the output of the usb port?

        • @ash2000:

Awesome, thanks ash ordered one too. I reckon it's good enough to be a separate deal haha

        • Thanks bought the usb doctor thing!

        • @meanozbgnr:
Im wondering the same but i guess you plug the charge doctor into the power bank and then plug your phone usb cable into the charge doctor and then you see what rate it charges at.

        • @ash2000:
These are great. Went around the house testing every lead/charger we had. Good to definitively know which leads/ charges are good.

        • @ash2000:

So does that display voltage as well as current being drawn?

I had a few car chargers that I thought were faulty, but then realised the common problem was the cheap ebay usb cable I was using. My phone in the car would barely gain charge in terms of percentage even over the space of 30 mins and to the point that if I used it whilst charging, it was going backwards.

Changed the cable and it improved, but still not quite as good as the Samsung wall charger.

It'd be great if a device to detect how much current is being drawn, ie 2A or 1A etc.

        • @placard:

These show input voltage and current being drawn. The display alternates between the two.

        • @meanozbgnr:

I imagine the current drawn will be dependent on the quality of the cable.

        • @placard:

          in specs
          Voltage: 3.5V-7.0V error 0.1V
          Current: 0A-3A error 0.01A

        • @paulaus: @dinna89: ok, if it does that, for under $2 it is worth buying, at least you can test the power bank output as well. Found similar one for the total of $1.95 (including AU $0.69 postage) that can be refunded by PayPal if product is not good. Don't forget cashrewards ;)

        • @ash2000:

Its free with a free stopwatch app and a bit of maths. To determine the charge rate of any cable.

        • @ash2000:
Or just download a free app like ampere and it measures everything. Amps, volts, temp etc.

        • @photonaturally: This is a dodgy cable, my friend got the same issue, his S3 charges really slow with the included Wall charger, once we used another USB cable his phone charges way faster.

        • @meanozbgnr:

You'll also plug your cable into another charger (preferably genuine charger) and compare the readings. If both are producing poor results, you know it is the cable.

        • @paulaus: Or use this app while charging off a powerbank: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gombosdev.…

I was just being a jv knob :)

        • @ash2000: in the listing they can't guarantee the color, so you may end up with the clear one for 1c more ;)

        • @Trishool: unfortunately my device is not supported :( but thanks anyway

        • @ash2000: I've learned hard way, took one (not original) cable to NZ, used the phone as navigator, had to buy another charger there.

        • @meanozbgnr:

The suspense has gotta be worth 1cent?

      • I have ordered one of these Xiaomi :) Let's see how it goes ;)

      • Download the 'Ampere' App, that tells you what amperes your phone is charging at. And its free.

    • Xiaomi IMO. It's been tested to be very efficient, fast at charging itself, fast at charging other devices, and is very compact.

We have no information on this brand, it's likely a rebranded unknown chinese model.

      • Its a random aussie company who's boss thought he'd be clever and come up with a wannabe german company name. Definately would be putting my trust with these people

    • Buy both

Lucky I dont buy this yesterday!

  • I cannot find a store anywhere that have these available for click and collect? I assume dse got ozb?

  • How long does it take to charge ?

  • I wonder what kind or type of cell is in it. I just bought an empty battery bank on ebay for about the same price to recycle my laptop batteries that i have. I didn't need one but wanted to make use of my batteries.

  • Hmm the 11000mAh one looks good.

Do Dick Smith still accept WISH gift cards as payment? Any Dick Smith codes at the moment?
Or should I grab it off eBay and just settle for 2% Cash Rewards?

  • This unit is a lot bulkier than the xiaomi units.

Indeed. I have the xiaomi and while chunky, still fits in jeans pocket

      Kaiser Bass 15000mah: 9cm x 3.3cm x 18.5cm, 300g.

      Xiaomi 16000mah: 6.04cm x 2.2cm X 14.5cm, 350g.

      • thanks, appreciate the comparison. I have the Xiaomi 1600mah and was wondering the same thing.

      • +5

        Kaiser Bass 15000mah: 6.5cm x 2.7cm x 10.1cm
        Xiaomi 16000mah: 6.04cm x 2.2cm X 14.5cm

The dimensions on DSE site is the packaged dimensions. :P

        http://kaiserbaas.com/rapid-charge/

So the KB size is actually very nice. :) shorter than Xiaomi

      • Good to know the exact dimensions, I thought my 16000maH Xiaomi was large, but that sounds like a freak of nature.

I prefer not buy from Dick Smith. I remember what they did to me when I wanted to buy a Samsung Galaxy S Note 4 with their special offer from them! They placed the offer online, I ordered one… but they told me this is out of stock, even though they were still selling online!
    Terrible customer service!

Does it have 12V output or only 5V USB?
Seems a waste to have such a large powerbank that is so limited.

    does this daisy chain charge?

i.e charge the brick whilst also charging the connected device?

i know the xaomi ones do which makes it really convenient, as you just plug the phone to the brick overnight and charge the brick, and in the morning bothe the brick and phone is charged

    • yep love this feature. anker products dont do this which sucks

Anyways, just ordered the 15000 one. I just had it shipped -_-
No more C&C available. Bye $8

    • They have been around for a while. Used to see their stuff at Harris Tech. But I am pretty sure they just rebrand stuff.

  • No more C&C…for the extra $8, I would get the Xiaomi for a similar price (16,000 mAh)

  • These 2200mah sticks for $6.77 look handy.

On it's own I would have gone a Xiaomi over the 15000mah due to shipping but a couple of these sweetened the deal.

    • They're showing up as $4.99 now… nice.

  • Can't seem to click and collect in Brisbane. Seems to have no stock

    • The 11000mAh (black) seems to have plenty of stock for Click & Collect. Great if you haven't used the $10 ebay voucher too, which brings it to $9.99

      • Hi 93matt, what voucher you are referring to?

          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/187608

Code I used was C_YOURGIFT02, it was sent around to a lot of accounts (but not all) a couple of weeks ago.

You can try the code before you lock in the purchase, so if the item is still available it's worth a shot

        • Code doesn't work for me. It shows the code is not valid with my paypal ID.

        • +1

@hokonfan: Did you get the email? If not, it won't work.

  • Can you charge this while you have two other devices on there charging?

  • Out of stock

  • Here is the link to the 11000mah and 15000mah on the Kaiser Baas website.

Gives you a better indication of the size and side profile of the power bank.

Bastards, lol. More expensive than buying it yesterday via the DROP10 code.

  • +2

Today it is $39.5, even though the web site still says that it sells for half price and the offers ends on the 26th?!

  • -2

I went to Garden City yesterday to buy one. Encountered typical Dick Smith service. Firstly they said they didn't know about the offer but had them at $79.xx on special. Then I showed them the ozbargain listing. They informed me I'd have to use click and collect but it would take at least 24 hours to receive an email to allow purchase. They then said "oh yeah we've already sold 4 of these today at that reduced price"…..

End result never bothered, clearly there were 5 units on the rack and I'm sure the staff were looking to buy them for themselves and perhaps on sell….

Just another reason why I very rarely buy anything from this company.

They have the worst customer service at the stores I have been into over the years than any other business…..

    • +3

The price was ONLINE only if i am not mistaken, so you had to do a click and collect to pick up the product at that price. Most times, the staff has no clue whats going on with prices.

      • fair comment, but the staff member told me they had sold 4 units that morning at the reduced price. So with imagination it would not be a great leap for a person to think the staff were not aware of the reduced price until customers collected. Then saw an opportunity to purchase at the reduced cost whilst putting others off as there was limited stock availability….

    • +1

Website prices have always been different to store prices, the error was all yours mate

      • Thank you I did realise it was click and collect but I do not believe it takes 24 hours to receive an email to collect your goods after you have paid for them….. I was going to click and collect in store but my iphone would not allow me the screen space to scroll sideways from delivery to click collect.

        • Maybe try the karrinyup one? I c&c the eneloop battery charger at 10pm last night and received the email to collect at 9.25am.

  • error

  • error

  • Err now I'm kinda regretting this purchase based on how similar the price was with the Xiaomi.

Does DS accept returns purchased online? (Change of mind)

  • I paid $49 for an 11,000 Kaiser Baas one back in January from DSE and it was a good price then - I will say one thing though, I charged a Gen1 iPad with it and emptied the powerbank without getting the iPad fully charged so I suspect the actual capacity is somewhat less than advertised.

    • bummer :(

      • Nah it's okay, you've got to buy stuff at some point, especially in electronics the price is always gonna drop after you bite the bullet and buy it, if you worry about the price dropping then you'll never actually buy anything ever. It only ended up custing me $29 anyway as I got it in addition to an external hard drive and used a $20 discount code

        • I would've bought the Xiaomi one if it doesn't work as advertised for the same price. Have u had any experience or any knowledge regarding DSE's return policy for online orders?

UPDATE: Okay called up the hotline and they said I can just refuse the delivery and once it gets back to their warehouse, I get my refund processed
