  • Pretty good price for the DC45

  • I bought this at the good guys a few months ago when they were on special and it sucks (in a good way).. More ooph than my previous dyson cordless — one thing however is the battery has a screw holding it in, so you have to unscrew it if you want to swap the battery (and buy a spare battery from Dyson)

So far I've been pretty happy with them even if they are somewhat pricey.

  • additional 10% off from masters?

But you can get gift card rebates in store

      • Sounds like a good deal - just do a price match and buy something else for $2 at masters and you get back $45 in vouchers….

        • +2

Yep, effectively got it for $253. Cashier was impressed (ozb swag)

        • @shump: Thanks a lot for this tip. Was going to haggle with Good Guys but this is better and no haggling.

      • Awesome, Thanks!

      • Cheers OP (and shump for the reminder of the Masters deal)…grabbed the DC45 (and a $2.50 super glue) and scored the $45 in gift cards.

Nothing better than combing ozbargains :D

Thx. Just got one too at Masters using the exact same method. I wonder if anyone has used the 5% off Wish card from cashrewards.com.au to save on top of that.

        • Yup :)

        • bought $300 gift card from cashrewards for $285, adding the $45 back from Masters, a total saving of $60, effectively $238 for the DC45

  • Why is the DC45 cheaper? One would assume, higher number, newer / better model than the DC37.

      Completely difference type.

      • Oh yeah. Would help if I looked at them both first!

  • I still use a cheap traditional hoover, what are the advantages of using a stick type hoover? Do these suck hard enough for carpet and rugs?

    • You can vacuum carpet with them as their motorised brush bar is powerful enough to dig into the carpet to remove embedded invisible dirt. As the result of this, they can leave distinct carpet grooming patterns after you have gone over a section of carpet. Also, because of their stick design you can easily vacuum under beds, within tight spaces, dust light fittings, clean out air conditioner vents, do skirting boards and many other cleaning activities and more than what is easily possible with a normal canister vacuum cleaner. I should also mention that even though they do not have as much suction as a regular plug-in vacuum, you are more than likely going to be keeping the house clean to the same level because they are grab and go.

    • Form factor. I think the biggest advantage comes from form factor. It's hassle free to take out and clean.

I think the one I own is strong enough (DC59). I've never had chance to use a strong traditional one (i.e. I've moved from those cheap ones that barely works), but I think at least my one is the strongest vacuum I've ever owned (it doesn't say much other than it works like a vacuum in this case though). My girlfriend told me that she find the vacuum to be on par (if not better) than the older Dyson vacuum her family owns. Not sure how much of that is true though.

  • Suckers!

    Would that be possible
    buy one in TGG-$448
Show them the price in Harvey Norman -298
    Get 120% different $150X1.2=$180
    So dc45 costs 268

    • Was too much work so I went in to TGG, said HN have it for $298 and they said they'd do it for $280.

  • whats the difference between them plz. I want to buy one

    • +1

The DC37 is a mains powered vacuum cleaner, whilst the DC45 is a rechargeable cordless vacuum cleaner. The DC45 has a motorised brush bar whilst the DC37 does not (DC37 has a multi surface tool without any moving brushes).

  • How long does the battery last before it needs replacing

  • Kills me i have this called the animal i think but they don't sell the long extension separate.. Really bugs me :(

  • is there anything special needed to charge
Just bought one and the charge light does not go on when its plugged into mains

    • +1

You need to plug the vacuum cleaner into the charger first. When it is charging-> green light is on. When it has finished charging-> green light turns off. If that does not happen then there might be something wrong with the charger or vacuum.

      • Thanks for the info. I rang Dyson and they are sending a new battery out. I still think its the charger as the light does not go on at all when plugging in at wall. Might score a new battery for free. Will have to wait and see if it fixes it or not
If it don't ill take it back to tgg and hopefully swap the charger

  • Thanks to those who posted earlier just got one for effective cost $238 as well ($15 everyday gift card discount, $45 Masters gift cards promo)

  • Damm! I missed it.
