    1 Book of 200 70c Stamps for $132

chances are that the price of stamps will go up again before you can use them all…

    • +5

they will still be valid, just add another 5c or 10c in that case

      • +6

        that's a scam…

they already have your money when you payed at the current rates.
they don't pay you any interest, so why should you pay more to use the stamps?

It's like buying a movie ticket now that's valid for 12 months, then the cinema asks you to pay more because they put up the prices…

        • Vj this how stamps always work.

          Stamps are basically like currency.

A 70c stamp will always get you 70c worth of postage. You are not actually paying more to use your stamps.

Obviously this is not a good deal if you only use 1 stamp post

        • @jubba:
          Who's Vj ?

        • +3

          @jubba:

So better buy the prepaid satchels … there you buy a service and not a $ value.

          @crohns:

          Who's Vj ?

          My Arch Enemy…

        • Thats why i love the US forever stamps. They are always good for one standard letter sent domestically.

        • +1

          @crohns: bizarro JV!

      • They are going up 30% to $1 each.

        • +3

          +30% of 70cents would make it 91cents.

      • just add another 5c or 10c in that case

        Don't you mean 30c

  • +1

You have my stamp of approval

  • +1

Sorry, but it's a pain in the @$$ buying rolls of stamps only to find they've changed the price. Yes, you only need to buy extra 30c stamps to make it up to what it will be in the future, but that means that you'll have to go out of your way and get more at some point!
Also, how much is the postage on these if I don't spend the req'd $200?

Edit: also curious as to how this'll go for the small prepaid envelopes?

    • Hi Snoop,

We can provide a quote for anything under $200 or we can waived this requirement if you will order in regular basis. I didn't get what you mean about the small prepaid envelop? You are welcome to email to me for any discussion.

      Thank you.

      • What I'm saying about the pre-paid is that it costs 90c (or less) and is a pre-paid service. So if we were to buy these will they still be valid when postage goes up to $1?
And if so, the smart investment would be to hold back on 70c stamps until you actually require them and to buy a heap of the pre-paids just before postage prices change!

Edit: ie. A 70c stamp will still be worth 70c, but a 90c pre-paid will effectively be worth $1.

          Hi Snoop,
Yes, what you are thinking is correct. The prepaid Post products will grow in value, I got a few customers bought a few hundred of prepaid envelopes and register post stickers 2 years ago before the price change. They told me that it was how they save money for their business.

          Regards,
          Athena (Ascot Vale Central Post)

Bigger savings from buying collections of mint stamps on eBay. I have a collection worth several thousands at face value. I'd be lucky to get 75% of face value on if sold as a collection.
Instead I'm using them for postage. The niece and nephew love getting Christmas and birthday presents with $20 of mixed stamps each with face value <$1. I get to recover face value and watch the post office staff counting them and struggle with the maths when they check I've got the right amount on my parcels.

    • Hi new dad,
Can u plz send me the ebay link. Where can I buy them from. Thank you in advance.

      • Just search for 'mint stamps Australia'.
I, like many of my generation were taught that stamp collecting was not only fun and educational, but also a good investment.
My ozbargain potential showed itself when I was young and spent all my pocket money buying stamps and building my collection. This continued as an adult on an adult wage, which allowed me to buy heaps of stamps, only to discover that the collector market has become saturated and most stamps issued since the mid 1970s aren't even worth face value to collectors any more.
There's heaps of ex-collectors selling their collections for around 60-75% of face value. Often the buyers are small businesses and ebay retailers wanting to use them as a cheap way of paying for postage.
The main downside is if you get lots of weird denominations, it can be tricky to make up the correct amount.

  • Are mint stamps legal tender and still can be used for postage?

    • Are mint stamps legal tender

If you can find someone to take them for what you wish to trade.

still can be used for postage?

Yes. If they can't, then the post office is defrauding you every time they sell you stamps.

  • You can't reuse cancelled stamps (used stamps with a postal mark of some sort on it). It is possible that some of the stamps he received in his bulk pack were not cancelled despite being used. From my understanding, you are still not supposed to use them because they have likely to have been used, but some people do because you can't tell the difference.

it comes off with paint thinner.
