LOL, i love how the major telcos are saying free calls and then TC comes out and says 95%… if you're going to follow suite, do it properly TC.

    • I agree. Its not as good as other providers.

      • hahaha yeah, don't get me wrong though. It's still good but if you are going to follow, go 100% and not just 95% of the way.

      suit*

Yeah, kind of disappointing to see them do this when all the others are free. Lift your game TC!

TC is using Telstra's network, Telstra is offering free calls to Nepal, which means TC is making 5% profit on the calls.. not good!!

I wouldn't assume they pass the free deal on to their resellers, this could be out of their pocket.

  • Where's the hardcore Ozbargainers? "Cheaper elsewhere, no deal! - Neg"

    • they cant neg….. obviously

    • But if you are only with TC then this would be a deal =P

  • So instead of charging 40c FF + $4.50 per minute they are charging 2c FF + 22.5c per minute on their plans the include a small international call allowance?

How Generous… charging a reasonable rate instead of an overpriced one.

    • Not sure if all, but at least some telechoice plans include international calls, thus it is the "funny money" used here. I think it is better than none.

      • Yet if you exceed your "Funny Money" allowance, you are charged Full rate for the excess, and at Funny Money rates you will use the allowance very quickly. I have noticed that "Cap" plans have been discontinued by most providers, presumably because of TCP Code. Telechoice should follow suit by fixing their International rates.

95%?? Surely hanging on to a measly 5% is not worth it… It isn't about breaking even Telechoice, its about bloody compassion!

    • +2

The 5% is what it actually costs them though, they don't want to be seen to be giving away something for nothing!

  • +4

I would give TC a little relief for the 5% they're keeping here, they're nowhere near as big as the major telcos and their actual plans are a lot cheaper than the others.

The 5% may just be to deter the offer from being abused, however unlikely that is.

my thoughts too, they dont make billions in profit like the others carriers.
Have the other small companies offered free calls - vaya, amaysim etc?

      • +1

you've got a point, i guess they only make MILLIONS…

  • +2

Does anyone know a Nepal number I can call?

    • Sure, try this number: +977-1-4272761 make sure you have your credit card ready for a donation.

      • Yep thats why I want to call, I would like to make a donation

  • lol still mooching off that 5%, wow this is really in bad taste.
