Sony Smart Watch SWR50 - Stainless Steel AUD$205.43 Free Shipping

Was shopping around for an Android wear watch and was looking at the Sony. Found this on sale but the price (and free shipping) seems to good to be true. Anyone have any experience with this site?

They dont offer PayPal as a payment method so I am hesitant to give them my CCard details.

Sony sell this watch for $399 so this is nearly half price http://www.sony.com.au/product/swr-50/sku/sm+swr50+smartwatc…

Hmmmmm I wouldn't… But I'm sceptical like that

Yeah … absolutely agree. Good luck ever seeing the watch in the post. Not much info on the site and only registered this year …

  • Price looks great but dammit I bought another smart watch just last week and I only have two wrists fml

    • Which smart watches do you have out of curiousity?

      • Galaxy Gear and Gear Fit. Bought the fit last week on a whim but really wanted a Wear OS watch tbh.

        • What you opinions on them so far?
I have a Gear Live still sealed in box I'm thinking of selling to get a Gear 2 or the fit.
Shame the Gear S is so pricey.

@OrbDaggerZ: Fit is great but I don't have much use for its features tbh. I don't use its fit stuff, just call and message screening tbh. It is completely waterproof though which is a big plus.

Its Runs Android Wear so Sony won't have to update anything. Most reviews for the watch are positive due to its larger battery, GPS, WiFi and IP68 waterproofing.

      • But also worth noting is that this smartwatch doesnt have a heartrate monitor - something I really wished it had. Would have bought it in a heartbeat (from another retailer).

        • +3

Smartwatch HR monitors to date are crap. They only work accurately when your standing still. The technology is there for wrist based HR, apparently the Fitbit Charge HR & Surge are OK, and MIO has very good technology in this area, but battery drain (I believe) is keeping it out of smartwatches at the moment.

        • All of the heart rate monitors on the current android watches aren't that great.

    • Sorry but my Sony Z2 is running 5.02 and has been for a while, my wife's Z2 phone is running the same. Where's the issue with updates on these Sony's?

      • Z2 with Android, and Android Wear OS are different.
This one SHOULD simply update a la iOS.

        • Of course they are different, my reply wasn't aimed at you but rather at his "Sony sucks. They won't update"

    • I'm sorry but I'm completely unbiased to technology companies and have tried almost all of them.
Samsung GS5, HTC One M8, LG G3, Sony Xperia Z3, Sony Xperia Z3, iPhone 5S within the last year.
I am still using the Z3 as my daily driver. Everything else had at least one problem that I didn't like about it:

      GS5 - Slowed down
One M8 - Bad photo quality
G3 - Slow from day one
Z3 - The only fault I could find is that my loudspeaker microphone is muffled compared to the others. Not unusable.
iPhone 5S - Too heavily invested in Google, but still recommend iPhones to others

      • I am honestly disappointed with my Z2, the magnetic charging bit is dead. And the charging is erratic past 90%.

I could have just got a bad lot of phones but the issues seem comment when I googled them.

        • My Z2 tablet and wife's Z2 phone charge fine using generic magnetic cables from eBay.

        • I avoided Sony UNTIL the Z3, all of them before that seemed to have widespread issues.

I bought a Z3 PURELY for the weatherproofing, camera and physical design.
Took it to QLD within the first week of owning it and was taking underwater photos of the Stingrays at Seaworld. Was not disappointed and still love it as a phone.

My next one will either be S6 Edge or <NEW NEXUS>.

From their own "about us", they are part of the Hending group, who also run Android enjoyed, a site basking in the glow of a 10% trustworthy rating on Scamadviser: http://www.scamadviser.com/is-android-enjoyed.com-safe.html

For that site, there are the following two threads:

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/82555

    http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/2022913

They seem "legit" in that it doesn't look like you'll do your dosh, but appear to be on a par with Dick Smith on-line on a bad day….

I came across this site and 'Android Enjoyed' when researching cheapest prices for the latest Star Jewels watch deal and the Casio Gulfmaster query. They had great prices, but the reports from Whirlpool and elsewhere on the web wildly flapped a giant red flag.

My impression is that you're in for a worse experience than DSE or Harvey Norman, particularly with their "Australian Consumer Law doesn't apply to us" attitude.

      • Yet they bang on about being an "Australian group of companies"… It does suggest that one could take the letters S, V, I, P and S and reverse them .

  • That's an excellent price for an excellent device. (If it is legit)

My girlfriend bought me a Moto 360 when they arrived in Australia and I had an Original Pebble before then.
If I never got the Moto 360 the SW3 was on my shortlist already.

Can't imagine life without a smartwatch these days.

  • hmmm.. this or a cheap Gear 2? My Gear 1 died yesterday and really miss it.. but I've also got the LG-G and Moto360 already.. sigh

I wouldn't risk it. No PayPal makes this purchase feel like gambling.

  • I would have been massively keen on this if the website didn't look so goddamn dodgy…

  • How many people have pulled the trigger?
