  • Seriously amazing shoes, too bad I can't justify dropping $400 on a pair of boots.

  • I've bought two pairs from http://www.nungar.com.au/catalog/

They were the craftsman variety but $350 a pair delivered is still the best price I found at the time. I think you'll find bootsonline add 10% at the end of the order.

  • I bought a pair in the last dj's sale, $215.00, but have been disappointed.
The leather sole has split and RM have priced $110 to repair.

I asked if they had any sort of warranty and the sales person tells me that it is normal for a pair of boots to wear our in 3-10 months and that I should buy two pairs instead.

    • wow, looking at my 8 year old pair that I wear every day and wondering what happened.

      • I'm pretty sure I just got a faulty boot, they haven't worn through its just that the leather on one sole has cracked/split where it flexes.
It seems like a dodgy sole because the other one is fine, even comparing the two the one that cracked seemed like the leather was separating or flaking.
I was mostly disappointed because I'd heard how they were supposed to be great boots that would last if well cared for, but the best I could get was a "well I can send it in with a note to ask is it a fault".
Now it will be 5 weeks to repair and unless the note (which I saw only said "boots are 10 months old") magically translates to "is this covered by warranty / Australian consumer law" then I will end up paying extra $ to have the fault repaired.

        • Who did you take them back to - an R&M store or DJ's?

RM seem to have good customer service, so you should be covered.

        • @konazz:

No point talking to DJ staff. Chnaces are they know next to nada about the boots.

        • Back to RM, ok well fingers crossed then- Thanks

        • +1

re "(which I saw only said "boots are 10 months old") magically translates to "is this covered by warranty / Australian consumer law" then I will end up paying extra $ to have the fault repaired."

I've owned a pair of RM's boots for 12 years and everybody who owns RMs would agree, that with the craftsmanship involved in making these boots, one would normally expect them NOT to have a fault like this so you should be covered by Australia consumer law.

        • @jdmaher476:

Update - Just got my boots back, much to my surprise the staff member said that there was a fault with the leather and the repair was at no charge. I'm definitely a lot happier about this now. Thanks everyone

    • HAHAHA!! That's funny, you should tell that lady to have a quiet word to the RM Williams Marketing department. I am still wearing a set I bought around 1993. The box back then had a picture of old RM himself rounding up cattle in his 40 year old pair of boots!! Mine could do with a new sole for sure after all these years but 3-10 months…that's just funny!!

    • Same here. Except mine has a large hole in the bottom. I asked on Facebook and they said to attach their reply and send them in. I'm not keen on a 5 week wait and the prospect of having to pay. Alternatively you can have them resoled at a number of places. I think sub 12 months of use is a little poor for these boots.

  • My best price was while passing through Alice Springs, I got 2 pairs (can't remember which design) for $220 each from the stockman's store in the mall - and better yet they were comfort sole, not leather!

  • Love my RM's.

If it broke, I'll buy another in a heartbeat!
