    • weird how we all get completely different answers!

  • I just called them as it's been 5 months…they tell me it's a "known issue" caused by SOOOO many people taking up the offer. They are "hoping" to have refunds and points all processed by the end of November. That'll be 6 months AFTER I spent my $500 to qualify. Hopeless.

    • no points yet, might have to wait for another month an half, not happy.
nevertheless wont feel bad at all when it's time to cancel

    • Maybe CBA needs to get themselves a computer! If they can't handle the Qantas campaign, then I would wonder why they have re-offered it. CBA is still operating like the inept Government intrumentality that it used to be.

  • Well, 101 days went by, but I finally have got my first year fee refunded..

Since I just want to "take" it out of that god forsaken account, does anyone know if by paypaling from my card to my partner/other PayPal etc, (family n friends, and copping the roughly $7 PayPal fee), will CommBank sting me with any additional fees?

Or just treat it as a PayPal transaction?

    Cheers!

    • you can just withdraw it to another account and you're charged a $2.50 cash advance fee. That's what I did.

      • Really? So if I just do a usual CommBank iPad app "transfer" from my credit card account to my savings account of $249, I'll just be deducted $2.50?

Is this based on a percentage rate, or a set fee?

        If so, sweet!

        • you'd better confirm that before you do it.
I got hit once ages ago with ANZ. Meant to deposit around 7k at branch to saving account, however the teller wired into my Credit Card account, once I realised I transferred the exact amount from CC to saving account online without thinking. Guess that got hit with some $70 fee a few days later as it was treated as cash advance.

        • I've done quite a few times and its only ever a 2.50 flat rate fee. But that's to another cba account. I remember somehwere it said it was a percentage but its only ever been a flat rate in my experience.

    • you dont even have any chance to spend $249 on either card? A few supermarket trips would have used them all.

      • Yeah that's true but I like to count my pennies in my account lol!

    • If you are looking at closing the credit card then all you have to do is ask them to transfer the money to a bank account (does not have to be a Comm Bank account) when you ring them up to tell them you are closing it. Just give them the BSB and Acc numbers and the money will be in your account a few days later.

This is what I did and there was no fee for the transfer.

  • I completed my $500 spend mid-June, no fee refund or QFF points yet. Just called CB credit card support. Bloke said that I met the promo criteria and he has now sent my details to "the team that is taking care of all that" and it should be sorted in 10 business days. Also said the bit about the points transfer taking at least 30 days because of statement cycles.

Will be keeping the card until the end of the 12 months purely for the free travel insurance, then cancelling. I hope I can transfer the $250 into my CDIA account easily, that's all Commbank are good for these days.

  • called up CBA again this morning, got transferred to their awards line after about 15 minutes. That guy checked my account and confirmed that he saw I was awarded 80K awards points on 12th, which in turn I shall see 40K QFF points in my QFF account next month. so another month of wait…

    • Their awards section (ph 131661) seem to have organised my 40,000 for me (They said that they will be in my next statement), but I don't know what is happening with my $249 rebate.

    • Interesting…is it possible you could then switch from Qantas to standard, and convert the points to 40k Velocity (they convert them at 2:1 for platinum)?

  • Just called them up as I haven't received the points or annual fee refund.

They confirmed I "definitely" will be rewarded and my FF details are recorded.

They stated it will go through 3 months after meeting criteria, which was August 14 for me, so "within the next month."

    • Another month passed without points or annual fee refund.

Spoke with "Leigh" in their awards department.
Again confirmed my eligibility for the promotion.

Points to be transferred manually within 48 hours.
Annual fee refund and points both to be visible on the next statement

      • Points and annual fee finally received.
Time to get rid of this damn card

  • Called the Awards team, they are going to manually transfer qff points!. I met the spend criteria mid June.

Looks like I need to call them as well, what a useless bunch

  • I spoke to the awards team and they advised that they couldn't actually check if I was eligible for the offer, they asked me how I applied for the card and then asked if I've made the spend before August and I said yes, they told me they'd transfer the points in 48 hours and they'll then be in my qff account on my next billing cycle. Wow what a shit system

That's terrible. Looks like I need to call up too.

  • finally got my 40k points today after met spending criteria on 1st June.

  • i received my points but not the refund
i spoke to a CSO who claimed the refund is only for those who signed up for the deal in-brand and NOT online
has anybody received the refund when signing up online?
    thanks

    • i called and spoke to a different CSO who processed my refund immediately.

      • We both applied online and I've got my points and refund. Wife met the spending requirement mid-July and she is still waiting for both.

I guess I will get her to call for refund. What number did you call?

PS: I received a gold card she has the platinum

    • I suspect the majority of us here would've signed up online through the link provided.
Glad you got your refund back!

    • I'm pretty sure everyone on ozbargain would've applied online, I applied online and got my refund and same with pretty much everyone else, I'd call back if I was you.

Finally got my 40,000 qff points, time to cancel

Rang on Monday. Got the points today. Still waiting for the refund.

  • I called up CommBank Awards 3 weeks ago to ask again why I hadn't received the refund or points. A few days later they told me I had "signed up via google" and wasn't eligible. But they suggested I call up Card Maintenance to confirm. After 15 minutes of back and forth on the phone being grilled about what URL I signed up with, what links I'd clicked, I finally got told they'd launch an investigation. Got told I could call up after 10 days to find the result.

Just called up now and apparently the points will be in my account next billing cycle. The refund came through the other day. I had signed up and met the minimum spend in May.

Called CBA to cancel the card after recieving the points and they offered 10,000 awards points (5k qff I assume). Please try if interested. I cancelled it anyway though. I dont want to deal with them anymore.

  • Called CBA as I didn't receive annual fee refund/points. They promised to issue refund within 48 hours and I should get my 40K points after "next statement".
