Listerine Total Care 1 Litre + Bonus Total Care 250ml as well http://www.chemistwarehouse.com.au/product.asp?id=71323&pnam…

  • Is there much difference between the different products?

    • I asked my dentist this and they told me that there wasn't (I use Listerine Zero as a result as I can tolerate it better without the alcohol).

There really isn't a great deal to do beyond "kill bacteria" which is essentially what mouthwash does as I understand it. This has been marketed in the past with images of explosions occurring inside the users mouth etc. to imply some special kind of action but really we have been able to kill germs for a long time and it's not like there's some kind of fightback required after the germs regroup … where is this going. Goddamit I'm baked.

      • better mouthwashes - such as zero and total care - include fluoride :)

        • so how is zero and total care different to normal ones?

is it just the flouride and less intense?

I think flouride is not an issue, cos we get it in water daily.

          why use fluoride toothpaste?

why do dentists use fluoride mouthwash?

        • @tonester:

          yes, that my point

Flouride is everywhere in toothpaste, water..

not having it in the mouthwash is not an issue…

No alcohol? How will I ever face the day now?

  • This tastes awful, and when you gargle it creates a lot of bubbles. You look like Ash, the android in Alien, frothing at the mouth.

    petrol is cheaper

  • I prefer coconut oil as my mouthwash.

My local store doesn't stock the Listerine Zero with the bonus bottle. This bonus offer has been online for quite a while now but seemingly impossible to find in the actual stores. The stores do have a different formula available (purple?) with a bonus bottle but not the Listerine Zero.

ETA: Can confirm it's the Total Care version that seems to have availability:

    • Cheers, when I got mine the shelf price was 10.69 but scanned for 7.99

    • yes between buying and posting it became no longer available online but found in several stores

discount drug stores will also price-match :)

  • @tonester thanks for the tip. Anyone knows where this particular product is made?

  • Smart arse

From Coles' website, "Country of Origin: Made in Thailand, Made in Thailand from local and imported components."

Was about to comment the same thing as beachmuscles but didn't want to be a smart arse.

      • At least not in china..
Who knows what they would put in it?

        e.g.
        Drain cleaner added

        Like their milk scandal.

Ya, all muscles, no brain, huh? Anyway, reason I ask is, firstly the quality, as elaborated by others below. Secondly I would buy Australian-made over imported, and some Listerine products are made locally, help keep jobs here, cos if they go, whole community suffers.

        • I'm not sure if you can find any mouthwash that is made in Australia because Listerine and Colgate ones are made in Thailand. You can try looking for brands in Coleworths first. Cole's website, most of the time, lists all ingredients in products they sell.

@721411: just checked my current bottle, Listerine Total Care, made in Australia. Hope they don't farm it out overseas again. Btw, Twinnings tea now 'blended and packed in China'. They've just lost a customer. Surely there are Australian teas.

        • @oldrocker: Good finding! Yeah, I'm always looking for AUS products first and if they're organic or plant-based products, I don't hesitate to purchase them.

Only exception is when I see products from my home country, which is not CN, I tend to buy them in stead of AUS made. Especially when it comes to food, most of AUS made products don't taste the same as food made from original countries which are in turn don't taste as good as the food I cook at home.

          Sorry OZ mates! ;)

  • increase to $10.69 now? cheeky CWH
