  • Any idea what is the RRP? Specs dont look too good even for $99. Maybe my expectation is too high.
    OW RRP$149

  • Poor screen, memory and RAM but GPS, passable CPU and battery. With "Here" maps or Sygic for the big spenders this would make a good SatNav…

shouldn't this be the price point for tablets with these specs i.e. screen resolution, 1GB RAM, 7" screen

honestly, i cant see anything special about that price

  • Probs not relevant but I bought a Lenovo Yoga 2 Tablet 10 inch at OW for $331 last night. Got it price matched with Lenovo Australia's price. It was a perfect gift for mum. She loves it

  • Most similar comparison I can think of is the Pendopad 7" with GPS from Target which is $79 when on sale, so about $20 more for the HP branding seems decent enough. I use my Pendopad as in-car navigation, but the screen has extremely poor viewing angles and is not very bright.

    • Good use for a cheap tablet. I use a $27 7" Huawei tablet in the car for (offline) navigation, movies, music, and control the $80 Sony Xplod MEXN5050BT Bluetooth head unit with Remote App. Great screen but only single core at that price.

      • $27????

        • $27 That's like good enough to give to the kids (or secret santa lol)

I find the screen for the Pendo Tab to be extraordinary bad and I do not think it is the resolution, just that it is shit. It is cheap so….

      • How did you get past the (profanity) filter?

A upgraded version compared to HP 7 tablet, $99 is a good deal.

    • What is upgraded about it? Sorry I am not familiar

      • faster cpu, more battery time, newer OS, has bluetooth and gps, not sure about speaker but HP 7 has micro speaker, sound like a mini headphone. but HP got higher res camera

  • My dad simply wants a tablet to read PDFs as he sometimes converts them to epub for his kindle but it doesn't convert properly? Would this be sufficient for that or should I look at something different?

A nexus tablet for example would be wasted on him, but just want something that can display PDFs with good resolution (I guess so it's easy to read) and reasonably easy to use.

  • Thanks OP. The mother-in-law recently cracked the screen on her Acer A1-810 and seems like a cheap replacement.

  • Just bought one.

Seemed to be snappy when I played with it.

Screen is much better than similarly priced ones in terms of viewing angle. Brightness is average.

    Late mother's day gift.

  • Just be aware, GPS performance can differ from manufacturer to manufacturer, unless someone has written a previous review, you don't really know until you've bought it. My Samsung Galaxy Tab2 GPS is brilliant, I use it out in The High Country a lot… Its never let me down. Just something to think about if your wanting to use as a GPS device.

    Cheers

    • Yep tru DAT will test today.

If shit, will return for full refund.

  • Officeworks just brought it down to $97!
So there goes the price match for less.

  • Only display model left in Keswick SA, Marion store have 10 left (minus one which I've put on hold) when I left about 3pm SA time.

No rear camera, only 0.3 Megapixel on the front, good enough for my 2 year old for his Fireman Sam videos so he doesn't trash my desktop computer. :)

    • Yeah good for kids, see if you can find a cover for it so its protected :)

      • Ordered a case and screen protector @$8 off ebay, should be fine.

        Thanks for your concern. :)
