  • What does it have over the Canon MG2560?
$34 at JBs, $29 at MSY and often seen sub-$20

It was actually $18 at HN over the weekend as well!

      Ok I did some searching:

      Canon:

      http://www.canon.com.au/en-AU/Personal/Products/Home-and-Off…

      Ink Droplet Size
      2pl/5pl (C/M), 3pl/5pl (Y), 11pl (PgBK)

      Printing Resolution (1)
      4800 x 1200 dpi

      Print Speed (2)
      B&W: 8.0 ipm Colour: 4.0 ipm 4”X6” photo: Approx. 44 seconds.

      Doesn't do borderless printing

      Epson:

      http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/jsp/Product.do?sku=C11CE0…

Minimum Ink Droplet Size: 5 ink droplet sizes, as small as 1.5 picoliters

Maximum Print Resolution: 5760 x 1440 optimized dpi

      ISO Print Speed:

      Black: 9.5 ISO ppm†
      Color: 9.0 ISO ppm†
      2-Sided ISO Print Speed:

      Black: 4.6 ISO ppm†
      Color: 4.5 ISO ppm†
Photo Print Speed: 4" x 6" borderless photo in as fast as 20 sec (Draft Mode)1

Summary, Canon faster for standard printing, slightly lower resolution, doesn't do borderless printing, doesn't have wifi, scan res is lower

      • Seems like there's a typo on Canon's website "In Detail" , the printer resolution is actually 4800 x 600 and not 4800 x 1200 dpi.

This can be seen on both the description and "At a Glance" tabs, it's also in the printer's downloadable PDF brochure

I won't be able to offer a feature-by-feature comparison but this is in a different league and has much more advanced features such as.

      • Network / Wireless Printing
      • Print from iPads, iPhones, tablets and smartphones using Epson Connect
      • Card Reader Slot
      • Higher print resolution 5760 x 1440 vs 4800 x 600 for the MG2560
      • Higher scan resolution 1200x2400 vs 1200x600 for the MG2560
      • Duplex and Borderless printing

It also uses a 5 cartridge Claria ink system which produces superior photos that is smudge, water, and fade-resistant. Also more economical on the long term.

So it really depends on what you are looking for in a printer.
