Norton US Upto 50% Discounts

11

Seems Norton US are having upto 50% discount on various products. I dont think downloading an order should be an issue where I got to the point of entering my CC details with no issues. Those interested might want to give it a go.

  • I've just added Norton 360 to my shopping cart, and it's come up as $90 US. The 50% off seems to be via US/Canadian rebate as they've added a "US/Canada rebate form" to my cart.

I don't think Aussies are eligible.

  • Unfortunately the 360 seems to be via rebate, however the others appear to be ok. I previously tested Norton Utilities.

Why would anyone pay for that bloatware when all the security one needs is now included in Windows 7?

There are free utilites for almost all the rest of that stuff too.

lol you must be kidding right a security update was released two weeks after Windows 7 hit the market. More to come too theres no such thing as 100% secure windows or any O/S for that matter.

    • Are you implying that the lack of updates means better security?

Windows 7 does include antivirus/spyware programs. If you want 3rd party protection go with NOD32 or Kaspersky instead for paid versions or AVG/Avast for free anti virus programs.

Norton has been long been shunned by many due to it's bloatness ever since Symantec got their grubby hands on it.

Not at all, I have pretty much tested many security suits. And its very naive to say that Windows 7 security is sufficient. It is great I agree however its not sufficient if you know how a pc functions. Norton did come along way compared to what they used to be back in the 90s and maybe you are familiar with their challenge promotion http://www.takethenortonchallenge.com/ . Many still have that old perception engraved in their brains. I am not saying its the fastest even with the huge improvements they made or they are the best in the market. HOWEVER, they remain one of the top software makers world wide whether you or I agree or disagree.

At the end of the day the point of this is pricing not to debate whats best, who should get it or whats wrong with the world we live in.

    • I'm not sure about the 90s but I wasn't impressed 3 yrs ago when Norton failed to stop the numerous invaders then couldn't get rid of them. Cost me $250 to get it cleaned up and as the 2 different technicians politely told me "Norton has been unable to maintain the high standards they were renown for in the early days".

  • I've tried buying "special" US priced digital downloadable software before, and it always ends in tears. The problem is, you need to enter a US postal address and a US credit card number. Miss either of these two steps, and it says ineligible! It is a shame, as there are often lots of good US only deals from the likes of MS and Symantec.

The cheapest option in AU for Symentec software is to buy the OEM versions:

    e.g. MSY: Symantec Norton Anti-Virus /Internet Security $13 / $17

  • If I recall correctly, Kaspersky Antivirus and Kaskersky Internet Sec. 2010 comes with 2 year protection, so if you're going to use the AV for 2 years its far more economical to purchase Kaspersky instead of Norton.

Eddie @Fluidtek also had an OEM version of Kaspersky AV for $20. Doesn't appear on the website any more though
