Gotta love Google Play. They've just re-launched their Chromecast offers which are better than last time, with an increase from 1 to 3 months for unlimited music, as well as a free movie rental. New T&Cs are here & here. Expires June 18th. Enjoy :)

    It would appear that the 3 months unlimited music is only for new users so if you've just finished your 30 day free trial(like me) then you miss out. Grrr.

      Its $11.99 a month for google play music, so buying a new Chrome would effectively mean $4 for the Chrome after subs if you get the Chromecast under a hardlynormal or dicksmith deal…

      Offers only available to new users, so you would probably have to setup another fresh google account to take advantage…

      You'd end up having an extra Chrome for only ~$4 then.. so could give to a friend :)

    Will the 3 months unlimited music stack? So last time if I redeem 3 months and now redeem another 3 months (or redeem 3 months from another ChromeCast), will the total free months keep stacking?

      Mine says "coupon used" when I tried to redeem it. Not sure if it was the old coupon or not.

      The movie rental worked though - I got a free one before.

        What I mean is will the coupon stack against the Google Music account when you redeem. Say you have 2 ChromeCast and you redeemed two offers of 3 months unlimited, will it give you a total 6 months?

          @happychappy1: Doesn't work like that I'm afraid mate! Though you could claim the first trial, then the day before the deal finishes claim the second with another Google Account to eek a bit extra out?

      If you grab the Stan trial for a month it would seem so? ($39 delivered). Just ordered one yesterday using that promo.

      Make sure you cancel Stan before 30 days are up if you don't want to get charged.

      Also suggest using Paypal to pay. Using my credit card direct (which NEVER gives me troubles normally) got blocked by their "Gateway" software and it was a headache sorting it out manually with staff due to the WA time difference and the fact the Paypal invoice they then sent me took 36 hours to arrive!

    Says max 5 redemptions per google account, but after 3 it will not accept any more of my codes. I can always redeem via another google account.

    Finally got a car with an AUX input and am looking at Spotify vs. Play Music for EDM / Top 40.

      You'll want Spotify anyway - been there and tried that! Especially with AUX in you'll notice a sound quality decrease with Play Music, as it uses 320k MP3 vs 320 OGG encoding. Marginal but noticeable!

      Also being rather into similar genres I can also say Spotify has a better range. I tried to match a playlist of 1000 EDM songs I'd accumulated in a playlist on Spotify to Play Music. It only picked ~70%.

        Thx for the info. Personally I feel spotify is too expensive :( any cheap ways around it? I heard about registering in Philippines/Indonesia/somewhere but never understood it entirely.

          I think you register for spotify using a proxy/vpn located in that country. Search for that post on ozbargain and perhaps it still works.

    Nice. Been pretty happy with the streaming quality of Google Play Movies on Chromecast. My only problem is that a couple have been limited to stereo audio.

    Does anyone have some feedback regarding the picture/encoding quality of competing streaming services?
