      I had a brief look for SFO & SEA fares, but didn't find anything (though will prob. look again later today). I've posted about SFO in the past, I swear :)

      SFO is normally more expensive than LAX, so I guess if your goal is to get to the USA, going through LAX generally makes more sense? E.G. I'm going to Houston (and some other places) in a month and booked a flight to LAX because it was the cheapest West Coast destination.

    When I was booking flights to Vegas for end of May a few months back I went to this site and skyscanner and others. However, always the cheapest, usually BYOjet and STA among others would have cheap ones but once you actually try book it comes up with 'flight not available' and they try upsell to something similar and bit more expensive. Is this common? seems a bit dodgy.

      Yes it does, it then becomes 2 separate ticketed sectors Aus-AKL, then AKL-LAX, increases by a few hundred dollars.
