    Hi rep,

Just curious, do you have any plans to start offering flights in NZ/NZD?

We also run a site here, called ChoiceCheapies and are after some companies offering competitive travel deals, as they are few and far between over here! Most are stuck in the stone ages!

Cheers for the deals either way.

wow.. its like another OzB but for NZ??? Looks exactly the same!

      • It is run and owned by the same group, read more here.

      • +3

        Must be the bizarro world.

      • +2

It must be from some kind of strange, parallel universe, where people wear hats on their feet and hamburgers eat people.

      • +7

        Pretty choice ay bru.

    • Is ChoiceCheapies run by the same company as OZBargain?

We are pretty flat out just doing Australia at the moment, but will hopefully expand into NZ in the next 6 months.

Indeed it is, refer to my comment above for more.

Awesome, sounds good, the more competition the better!

  • this seems to be 11 Feb - 25 Feb (Melbourne) only… no other dates…

    • I only just found these airfares, so only a few dates have been uncovered. I'll keep checking & update this post - but the more poeple that run searches, the more cheap dates will be found.

    • +1

      A few other dates have been found - 4/Feb ret 18/Feb. 11/Feb ret 25/Mar for $824.

  • how do these deals work if i only want to fly one way. Is it possible to get to SFO for ~$400?

  • +6

Dang - great price but just in time for the AU$ to hit a five year low against the greenback!

    • +1

I had the opposite reaction after booking my Wellington to Melbourne :)

    • yep, making my 19th feb trip more expensive by the day ;)
Those cheap airNz LAX tickets bought last year (similar to these, but this would have been better as I'm headed to SFO straight away) are costing me plenty

    • that almost happens everytime i wana travel, it happened back in 2008 when i went to dubai, back than 1 aud went down to like 70 centsUS which sucked for me..

  • hi rep, are you doing multiple city? I was thinking to go from MEL to SF, then come back from NY to MEL. If it's possible.

    • Sorry, we only search point-to-point at the moment.

      • If you find the dates that give a good price for MEL-SFO return you should be able to get the return from NY at a good price too. It is the international flight portion that affects the price the most and you will be flying from NY to either SFO or LAX before connecting to an Air NZ flight. Just make sure you call Air NZ to make the booking first, don't book MEL-SFO and expect them to add a NY flight to it.

Any chance of a deal Sydney to US at the end of June?

      im also after this…

Any deals for travelling end of June?

      Search on your own

  • CHEAP!

Any advice on the best time to buy flights for North America departing in June/July. At the moment the best I can see is approx $1400, does that significantly change a few months closer to the time or is it pretty much as good as it gets for that time of year.

    • Good luck. You're contending with AU school holiday mark-up.

    • IMO you're best bet is a sale (or cheap flights on Fiji Airways, as they are trying to lift their profile at the moment).

      • Thanks, I figured that's probably just standard pricing and not going to change all that much. I've looked at previous Ozbargain threads for June flights last few years and there never seems to be many sales for that time period unfortunately. Hawaiain airlines seems the best price/most flexible at the moment, can easily fly into one and out of another west coast u.s city with no change in price

  • Not directly related to this deal but sort of:

Im flying to the US in July, when is the best time to book flights? Will there be special deals over the next few months or should I buy now (its currently $1700 return)

    • Same, i am flying in Late April from MEL to LAX.
Current price is $1500-1600, hopefully there will be a deal soon?

  • +1

@xccxxx & @Neckron666 - I used Flightfox.com for our family trip to the US last year. For a $98 fee, they found a fare $1300 cheaper than I could find.

    • Care to share your fare? (and itinerary)

      • +3

Sure. Family of four MEL > SFO RT during September 2014 school holidays for $4456. The best I could find at the time via usual suspects (adioso, hipmunk, expedia, etc) was $5750.

Flightfox did something funky by adding a random leg of Manchester to London to take advantage, presumably, of some world trip discount(?). Obviously this leg did us no good, but the $1300 saved did.

        • +1

Cheers! Was the Manchester-London leg actually connected to one of the suggested itineraries, or was this just a weird promo fare that discounted your long haul flights? A righteous hack if so.
I tend to book all my flights through OzBargain/TA-airways, but been tempted to give Flightfox a go. Especially for said hacks.

        • +1

@muncan: Yeah, the Manchester-London leg was totally random. It basically went like this:

          MEL > SFO
          SFO > MEL
          MAN > LON

  • Any cheap flights from Melb to Osaka?

    • Jetstar had super cheap JP flights recently.

    • Yeah keep your eye out, 500 return when I went to Japano. jetstar

  • Hi OP

Heading to LA (Vegas to be exact) on 7/8/15 to return 16/8/15.

Currently I can get flights just under $1200 which is OK but i remember getting on an AirNZ sale 2 years ago for about $900. Do you have any idea if this period following a peak summer period generally has sales on? If it helps there is about 6 tickets to be booked - that doesn't warrant any discount does it?

  • hi Rep, thanks for this tip, great fare, btw when do fares to London go on sale for travel in last week August?

  • Hmm I can't find any flights for under $1200 (Sydney to San Fran)… Has this expired?
