  • How's this compared to this deal?

    • +2
      • Its not an end of life product
      • It has a 10 year not 3 year warranty.
      • It has more IOPS
      • 2 million hour MTBF not 1.2 million

Basically it's a higher quality SSD.

      • Benchmarks are great, probably won't see much difference in real world performance.

Good bargain if you are an enthusiast :)

850 Pro's fly over earlier generation SSDs. The speed difference booting windows and other tasks is noticeable.

        • +2

I'd pick the Samsung for warranty alone.. 10 years!!

    No mSATA love??

  • Nice price for the 1TB 850 Pro.

  • Anything on the 850 Evo's? maybe in a 250GB flavour? :)

    • No? :(

      • I think Domingo's ignoring you.

        • s'allright. Cheaper at other local stores anyway.

  • +3

i still want that 850 evo 120gb which was sold out yesterday

  • Pardon my ignorance. What is the difference between Samsung 850 Pro 256GB SSD - $199 Free Shipping and Samsung 850 EVO 250GB mSATA SSD - $155 Free Shipping ? and Domingo ask about "Anything on the 850 Evo's? maybe in a 250GB flavour? :)" Is this another type. If I want to chnage the HDD from the Acer ES1-411-C1WD deal which one should I get ?

    • +1

one is sata the other msata. you want sata

    • The difference between the two you quoted is that one is mSATA, primarily meant for laptops.

mSATA, SATA for solid-state drives in mobile computing devices, a PCI Express Mini Card-like connector that is electrically SATA

The 850 Pro and 850 Evo are 2 different lines that Samsung sell. The Pro is a higher model than the Evo. I'm yet to find many articles that compare them against eachother and the Pro typically slightly outperforms the Evo, although the Evo wins out in some categories.

edit: Here's one! Article that says the 850 Evo is basically the same as the 850 Pro

  • I just checked my laptop SSD install instuctions. Says I have to replace my existing HD with the SSD. If I get a 256SSD - my storage will be too small. Can I not have SSD + my exisiting HD?

    • It needs to fit in somewhere - it is the size of a laptop HDD.

I can see some request here and there so we will organize another promotion via newsletter. Please turn on your PM so i can send you the link when it's on.

      • How about the 850 EVO 250GB?

        • will be inside the newsletter promotion.

        • @ShoppingExpress:

The newsletter subject line got me excited at "Samsung SSD Sale: 250GB From $139"…

but that's for a dated mSATA one. $159 against the SATA item. Excitement gone. :(

  • looking forward for:
