RRP $49 Now $14.99 Fiction Bicycle Helmet Black/White (Large) @ Pushys

31

Also white: http://www.pushys.com.au/fiction-skate-helmet-large-pearl-wh…

Was looking for spare helmets and found these. They are bucket-style helmet with polyurethane inner and soft foam padding. Size 57-59 cm. 1.5 cm width chinstraps (not flimsy and chokey). Great for winter riding/cruising as it keeps my head warm.

Edit: Not as good as the $4.99 sale price in September/November 2014 (in Summer, when these bucket-style helmets are not recommended due to reduced ventilation), but perfect for current season. Feel free to wait for next summer when the price might come down again.

Also Kabuto bike helmet for the other helmet variety:

    70% OFF Fiction Bicycle Helmet

Both snapshots for this helmet are $4.99, not "RRP 49.99"

    So this is a 300% price increase…

How is this 70% off ?????

You are a legend jv, those are some real detective work.

      • +2

Yep - you gotta have a special kind of psyche that pushes you to do a google cache (or equivalents) check on every new post that pops up on OzB.

      Well, math.

If you asked if this is a bargain, well yes, because the cost of the time machine (https://www.sideshowtoy.com/collectibles/back-to-the-future-…) cancels out the $10 savings you would have in November '14.

It's actually only a 200% price increase. Wow your math is kinda wonky. Apologies for not picking this price up a month ago, wasn't looking for a helmet then. Also searched for prior posting but saw no duplicates.

      Have fun trolling :)

        It's actually only a 200% price increase.

So that makes it a bargain then ?

        • It makes it a work of fiction

    • It's 70% OFF RRP, not 70% OFF previous sales price.

Anyway, added a comment to include your misgivings :)

      • which is false and misleading advertising according to the ACCC

price comparisons need to be compared to the normal selling price just before the price reduction…

        • Oh, this is news to me. Would you mind pointing me out to your source?

This helmet is sold at $49.90 RRP at other retailers as well.

Oh, this is news to me. Would you mind pointing me out to your source?

          LOL…

          What are misleading prices?
"a ‘before’, ‘was’ or ‘strike through’ price that is not the price those items were sold for in a reasonable period immediately before the sale period started"
"‘savings’ or ‘discount’ statements when compared to the recommended retail price (RRP), but the goods have never been sold at the RRP or the RRP does not reflect a current market price."

          https://www.accc.gov.au/consumers/prices-receipts/price-disp…

This helmet is sold at $49.90 RRP at other retailers as well.

That is totally irrelevant when it come to misleading pricing by a retailer…

You cannot claim 70% off when you did not reduce YOUR price by 70%…

        • The scenario that fits the ACCC statement you have above is:

Product was advertised as RRP $4.99.
Product was then placed on sale, RRP changed from $4.99 to $49.99 and sale price is $14.99.

What is addressed by this post:
Product was advertised as RRP $49.99
Product was then placed on sale, RRP still at $49.99. It went on sale to $4.99, then sale changed to $14.99.

Feel free to check with ACCC.

        • @loki niflheim:

"is not the price those items were sold for in a reasonable period immediately before the sale period started"

        • That bit of the sentence is talking about a 'before', 'was' or 'strikethrough' price. The 'before', 'was', or 'strikethrough' price in this case was unchanged throughout.

Check with ACCC. This statement is to catch those retailers who markup RRPs and then advertise a bigger markdown. At the same time allow for retailers who do increase RRP for a reasonable period of time (say, half a year) before marking down in a sale.

You've misinterpreted it, however if you feel strongly that your interpretation is correct, it you can report Pushys to ACCC.

Holy crap some people are salty. Just because Delivery Hero used to do $20-off-$20 doesn't mean $15 off isn't a good deal because it used to be cheaper in the past.

If you don't like it, shut up and move on.

    • +6

      doesn't mean $15 off

You missed that part about the price not being reduced. It was $4.99 and then it went up to $14.99.
      It is not reduced.
      There is no saving.
      It is not a bargain…

Claiming a 70% saving is deceptive and misleading…

If you don't like it, shut up and move on.

What do you think the "Comments" section is for? Brown nosing???
