        • @Lukian:
It may not be the format, so much as lots of ex-customers flagging their promotional emails as spam. They do send a lot of spam.

  • Do you get a tax invoice with purchase?

    • Based on previous orders, I think so. Why do you need one?

      • +3

Claim it as a business expense because I is a corporate high flyer

        • Lets hope you dont crash and burn with this deduction

  • Is this coming from Aus or China?

    • +1

Melbourne. Yay going to be playing with these soon. #boysandtheirtoys

  • So sad I missed out on this

    • :( wait for another sale or costco selling the swann helicopter for $25 in Canberra not sure all costco got the same.

  • +1

    Anymore rep?

  • if anyone is wondering why no order confirmation email…mine was under spam

  • Ordered, but did not get any confirmation email.

    • Check the comment above

Got these last time they are seriously awesome, very stable and easy to control. The only negative is the battery life but you can't expect heaps from a $20 toy.

  • NO! I missed out. I got quadcopter, Airplane.. all I need is now a decent heli!!

  • +2

Omg missed last time and again…any idea when you will restock op? Cheers.

  • Bad news for those with the urge to fly:

"Just to inform you that there is a slight delay in our warehouse, so hopefully will be shipped out this week."

    :(

    • Strange… I didn't get that email. Rep where are you?!

      • I emailed asking order status. Rep posted in comments 3 days so was hoping for it today or tomorrow

        • Ah I see, damn.

  • I had four arrive yesterday, ordered fairly early in the deal though. Interestingly I never received any emails from Swann at all, just a shipping notice from Toll.

  • Hasn't arrived yet and no mails informing of the delay.

    • I doubt you'll get a spontaneous mail. I enquired and got that reply.

      • Oh ok, i have sent an inquiry mail too.

  • Received shipped confirmation

  • Mine arrived today, got in before 11am with my order

    • Ah well. I was 11.15 so maybe missed the first batch

  • +2

Received mine today, shipped yesterday to NSW.

If anyone is looking for parts they seem to be re-badged Syma S36's the successor to the s107g. This isn't surprising considering the old Air Duel pack were re-badged s107g's & the Maxi Quadcopter is a re-badged X3.

  • My instructions don't have an English page, anyone have a link to the PDF version of the manual or can scan an English copy?

(Remote beeps when I turn it on, no idea what to do!)

  • Has anyone received theirs yet in Sydney?

    • Click on the posters name and you'll get the answer

      • ie yes

    Well this is BS

"Dear Valued SwannStore Customer - Due to an overwhelming response to our recent helicopter promotion our usual delivery time has been slightly delayed. We are doing our upmost to catch up and we anticipate all deliveries will be complete by 15 June. We appreciate your patience and thank you for your business."

    • +1

Glad they're doing their upmost though

    • Yeah, I got the same email this morning. Certainly is BS. Glad I didn't give this a deal a +

    • +1

Got the email too. Happy that at least they are informing the customers and also not cancelling the orders. Better late than never.

      • +1

Yeh all very well but then don't post in the comments "Dispatch from Melbourne today/Monday. ETA - 3 days VIC/NSW, 4 days QLD/NT/SA, 5 days WA"

        Bit misleading.

    • got the same mail too and I am glad its not getting cancelled. i can wait for my helis!

    • You may think it's BS, but at the same time, they may just be keeping you informed, which is not often the case with every merchant. As RVsure says they are not cancelling the orders which would be good news for those getting the emails. BTW worth waiting for.

      • Not so great when one of them is a present for next weekend though :(

Fingers crossed as yeh I really want them and waiting beats cancellation that's for sure.

        • +1

Totally understand your point, but it is ozbargain and it got 2338 clicks and it is a great deal, the copters are really fun and well made.

The point about their original timing comments would have been made before anyone understood the magnitude of the response. And given how quickly they sold out probably couldnt have been updated in time. It sold out in 1 hour and 20 minutes (probably less I am going on the update revision time) As you said you would have been close to the end at 11:15

They at least are doing the right thing to say they are overwhelmed. They cant be making much out of the deal, so getting extra staff or paying overtime, probably isnt going to happen.

Hey if it's late then you can play with them yourself, nothing wrong with that :)

  • I've received mine today. Cannot wait to let it fly.
BTW, we are not allowed to use the eneloop?

    • +1

They work fine, but they may take longer to charge (or simply not fully charge) the internal battery in the Helicopter.

So far, mine hovers extremely well and updrafts haven't been a huge issue, my main issue has been general drafts in the house, particularly when moving from a room to a hallway or anywhere near a main door.

Flight time is maybe 5 +/- 2 minutes on a 45min (1hr?) charge from NiMH batteries.
I'll let it charge a touch longer now and see if the red light actually goes out ever.

Note: Swann Website says 1hr charge time for a different model, instructions say 35-45min.
I'll attempt a charge with NiMH batteries for 1hr15min and give feedback.

      • I got my disposable battery, I think I charged it for 30 minutes… It flies alright, I need bigger house. :)

        • Now to charge them + my Scorpions and have friends attempt landings on and launches from the RC cars on a day with zero wind? :)

        • @Lukian: CANBERRA HAS NO ZERO WIND DAY… :'(
I should probably be satisfied with having it fly in my small room…

        • @AznMitch: Looks like Melbourne does not either :>

      • My manual says LIPO batteries (lithium Polymer) not NiMH

        • Eneloops/other rechargeable batteries are NiMH. They do charge the RC helicopters fully (the red light goes out), I failed to time it as I went to watch Daredevil.

      • +1

I charge them with mi Xiaomi power bank, so giving them max current of what they can draw. Red light goes out in 30-40 mins and gets about 8 mins fly time before they gently hover back to the ground.

Manual says to not discharge completely, so will attempt to detect when losing charge.

        • The (internal?) red light blinks when they're low on battery I think (this is almost impossible to see given the brightness of the other two LEDs?).
They'll also experience a reduction in power to the main rotors.

Thanks for the powerbank tip, much speedier option than the controller :)

        • @Lukian: also it doesnt kill your batteries. I imagine if you dont use your controller for charging, 4 good AA's should be close to lifetime.
The red light in the usb plug goes off when full charged.
Didnt even notice the low battery indicator, will look out for it next time!

  • Arrived today. The problem with one is that it only boosts when you move the lever on the remote, i.e. it never goes up. The other one works great, so it's good fun.

    • I read on a review somewhere that this happens when the battery isn't charged fully. Could that be the case with yours?

      • Thanks for that, unfortunately not. But hey, i have an extra set of spare parts :D.

        • Warranty it! :D

        • +1

@Lukian: NO TIME, gotta Fly-Recharge-Fly-Recharge…, plus tests w/t my attached keychain spycam (15 grams, incl. bluetack) https://youtu.be/gHVK5V0Uq5E

        • @ElWircho: I like the crash at the end!

        • @ElWircho: I was thinking of getting the spy cam to go with the helicopter but they are little expensive and not sure about the quality. Do you mind to share where you got the spy cam for and how the quality is?

        • +2

@rvsure: Spycams are ~8 dollars shipped from Asia, be aware that i bought mine >5 years ago, so the links to the sellers are just a reference. The one i used with the chopper (15 grams) is the Key Ring Spy Camera DVK808, youtu.be/pWU3ec4-p4c goo.gl/n1ZDVV However, the quality of the videos is below par, dropped frames and blurry. I have another one, the quality is way better, but with 22 grams the chopper won't take off, similar to this one goo.gl/lNvlyL There seems to be a new model of the 1st one, i don't have it but would risk buying it , maybe there are reviews goo.gl/1lKgef Bottom line: Actually i don't recommend buying a spycam for these small choppers, it becomes very difficult to fly and the quality is hideous, even if the spycam is great, the unstable flight makes the video unwatchable. Save your money to get one of those drones with built-in camera or power to carry a GoPro, costy ($150-$2000 and more) but you will have images that you can actually show others.

        • +1

@ElWircho: Thanks for the info mate.

        • +1

@ElWircho: umm, hate to be captain obv but you got 2 helicopters for a reason, just tie them together to lift the spycam :)

  • +1

    Great service.

They chased up my order and to make sure it would get out to me in time for gifting it should be sent today. Happy it could be sorted, thanks OP

    • that's pretty good of them :)

i just got an email, sent!

  • Still haven't got it yet. Just shot them an email as I will need it for a birthday party this weekend.

  • just received mine today. Thanks

  • Oh man these are fun! Keeping one for a present but the other is mine. Great responsiveness and tolerant of my hopelessness + small apartment.

Anyone got thoughts on the range of the remote? And if it goes out of range does it just turn off and drop or continue at the setting it was on when it went out of range?

  • Has anyone used both of them at the same time? Do the controllers interfere with each other as they both run on 2.4GHz?

    • +1

They pair individually so just have to be sure to only pair one at a time

      • Thanks mate

  • Nuts. Mine won't pair now.

Turn heli on, turn remote on and it just beeps and flashes then goes silent.

Any ideas? Nothing in the manual :(

    • +2

Turn heli on - red light inside flashes - turn remote on - remote beeps - red light in heli will stop flashing - move throttle stick on left up n down once remote stopped beeping

      • +1

Aha thanks. Perfect it requires moving the throttle. I think instructions just say it will pair without that? Worked now though ;)

        • Yup. Once it stops beeping and the red light inside the copter goes steaddy its good to go :)

        • It should be paired when it stops flashing, but it's not fully ready until you work the throttle it seems.

  • just received mine today. Thanks

  • +1

Got mine day before yesterday. One seems to be faulty and does not hover still like the other does. Draws out a circle in the air / rocks back and forward while maintaining pointing in one direction. Looked it up and its called the toilet bowel effect. Other one works perfectly. Called up swann, explained it and they were very helpful, are sending out a replacement.

The one that works though, wow! So much fun, even though its 8 minutes. Could be gateway into proper RC flight.

    Best $20 ever spent

  • Got mine today. Can't wait to get my hands on it.

  • anyone tried flying outside?

Wondering if what seems like no wind is actually still too windy for these little things and just blows them off course.

    • I think it would not work at all and end up in your neighbours gutter. Even small drafts inside that are unperceivable to us in the house moves the helicopter around.

      • Ha no kidding! Just tried it. Flags on harbour bridge are pretty much limp and leaves not moving in the trees.

Little helicopter went up then just starts drifting over to the road then downright zooming backwards in spite of my forward thrust attempts. Luckily was able to bring it down between some parked cars instead of the traffic!

  • Got mine delivered today, thanks OP.

  • Mine got sent today.
    Look forward to getting it.

  • Got it delivered yesterday and one of them doesn't work. Anyone else with a similar experience

  • no issues with either of mine - great bargain thanks OP
