  • I use an old towel to cleanup spills, But then again, I don't spill drinks that often.

I have kids and carpet. Believe me, there are a lot of fluids/gels/pastes that can be spilled that aren't drinks.

Hmmm, i'm going to be a first time dad in December,
Enough plus 1's on your comment to warrant a purchase.
Cheers, haven't thought that far ahead

Congrats. And yes, between the vomits, then later the toilet training, then the colouring in/play dough/water painting…
I have had to use mine on my couch several times when my daughter got hold of a ball point pen (used methalated spirit, sucked it up with that) and when she had fun with a tube of pawpaw cream.

These are no replacement for a professional clean, but they'll do the job quickly.

        • @Martijn: thanks mate

        • @Martijn:
And the list goes on, and on, and on, and on… (Father of 2, soon to be 3. all within 38 months!)

          #1 - Planned.
          #2 - Sooner than expected.
#3 - Was that .01% of a chance of happening!!! (insert bewildered/what the hell am I going to do face here!)

edit: And CONGRATS to ozy… Stop now while you've still got part of a life to live!!!
Kidding… You'll very shortly discover that it is the best thing in the world you could ever hope to achieve!!!

        • @Martijn:
Stupid question… Can these also be used like a handy-vac for vacuuming dirt spots, dead bugs, dropped food, etc?

          @Snoop:
The on i have (http://www.godfreys.com.au/bissell-little-green-portable-ext…) does most. As long as it isn't too big. It's pretty much a little wet/dry vacuum cleaner.

The only negative about this is the little bit of dirt in the cleaning area can be hard to clean. But it has saved me LOTS of times.

3 - Was that .01% of a chance of happening!!! (insert bewildered/what the hell am I going to do face here!)

Mine should be down to 0% now… at least, the post-op test said so!

        • @Martijn:
We did have this discussion after having #2 only 17 months after #1.
Alas, upon finding out about #3 being (yet again) a mere 20 months later, it's safe to say it wasn't even discussed this time!
Plenty of ice for me this summer!!! :(

Worth a shot. Just bought the plug in version at Myer for $179

    http://www.myer.com.au/shop/mystore/3698f-spotclean-portable…

Seems to work quite well. Works exactly like the big carpet cleaners just scaled down - sprays mixture on, then sucks it up. You can spray and leave it, agitate/brush it, or suck without spraying (come on now, now double entendres).

    • I have this power model too & totally recommend it. I mostly use it on the carpet at home after one of my darling cats spews or coughs up a furball & it also works a treat on my car seats but it really payed for itself when the "tradies" installing my new shower screen drilled into a water pipe - I used it to suck up bucket after bucket of water from the carpet outside my bathroom until they finally managed to get a plumber there (but that's another story!)

Seems like quite a bargain when you compare the price to it at Shopferret!
