Their products are ridiculously overpriced, even with 10% off…

They are overpriced, but I find it to be pretty decent gear too - if I want something I always wait til they have a sale and you can generally pick up whatever you want then for a good price. Just my 2c!

    • I've never bought anything from Kathmandu that wasn't in their heavily reduced 80% off-ish clearance area, which usually can take up about 25% of their store.

      • that wasn't in their heavily reduced 80%

and those items are not eligible for the 10% off…

        • Ah, true.. but you can get a good deal on some things in the clearance area :) it's not all ridiculously overpriced.

Good to grab just in case, thanks op :)

Still waiting for my plastic card to arrive in the mail from the last free Summit Club membership giveaway last week.

    • -1

Yeah, just came in here to say this too.

    • Did you "complete registration" after checking out? You need to click on "Send me a plastic card in the mail (address required)" after checking out to get a physical card

      • Yes I did do that. Might get it next week since i'm in Central QLD.

      • Yes i did complete every thing including requesting a plastic card which just did not arrive.

    • Got mine 2 days ago

Does this mean you don't get a discount at say a DFO store?

  • +1

    Discount only on full price.

    Made me cringe everytime.

    • Basically 10% off full priced RRP. Whoop Dee Doo

  • +1

They also have 'member only' sales like I think they start earlier than their regular sales. Free is free.

    • +4

Grabbing rubbish out of bins is also 'free'. Doesn't make it useful or worth doing though. I bet it'll just end up as one of those many plastic cards sitting in your wallet that you fish out in a years time and go 'why do I even have this?'.

sometimes you get free shipping as member

  • Thanks OP. I have just signed up.

  • Don't forget they've got Half Price Deals going on at the moment:

    http://www.kathmandu.com.au/weekend-deal.html

    • Still way overpriced.

  • That's my Kris Kringle sorted this year. Cheers

So how do you buy the other 363 days of membership? :p

    • -3

It's valid for a lifetime. You don't know how to read?

  • Twice a year they have a 40% off sale, for Summit club members only. Just after Mothers Day and just after Father Day.
The last sale just finished 2 days ago.

  • seems to be SOLD OUT? anyone else having this issue

    • Works fine for me. Just registered.

Free is free. Can't complain. Thanks OP.

      • Thanks for letting me know. I found out you need an alphanumeric password to make it work.

  • +1

PS: Free membership anyway if you're a student.

  • The gear is good, the prices are not (usually)…but their factory outlets seem to have more realistic prices.

Has anyone received their card yet? Been almost 2 weeks.

    • My card never arrived from the previous free membership giveaway before this one here. What a waste of time.

Yes i did tick the send me a physical card box. I don't think a card was even sent.

Who knows they could have even run out of plastic cards to issue due to overwhelming claim amounts. No loss any way not as if i would have ever used the card.

    • I'm in the same boat.

However, I've seen some customer in Kathmandu got the discount by telling the staff their details instead of showing the membership card and everything showed up on the computer.

  • Card received today
