I wonder if you can use a WISH gift card as payment to perform giftcardception.

    • No, I tried, it is no longer a payment option which blows as that would have been a further 7.5% off.

    • -1

I've done that before. I got a Wish gift card for Christmas and wanted iTunes credit, so I 'bought' an iTune gift card with the Wish gift card credit.

  • +2

Will the gift cards be subject to exclusions on use?

  • +1

I think it would be great to buy a cheap DS tv :)

  • Can you pay with gift cards to buy stuff against $25 off $99 deals?

  • +3

quick guys before they disable the 14% off code for this

    • +1

      I think they already did…

      • +1

You have to go through to check out. I just got 2 x $500.

        • Second that. Now, finding what to buy… :)

      • No, just use the code and press "proceed to checkout". The discount will be applied.

$500 gift card due for $397.75

  • -1

    so an $1149 iphone 6 64gb would work out as 397+397+80+49 (500+500+100+49 value) = 923, less 115 TRS refund = $808

    • +2

It works out to be a 20.05% discount, so it will be $918.63 less TRS of $104.45, so $814.18

      • -1

yep, I hurried to calc the TRS amount… have purchased 1100 worth of cards.

        • +1

Can you take gift cards out of the country? LOL

  • Can this be used as normal Wish card in woolies, Caltex ?

    • Nah. What I did a year ago is use the card to purchase Woolworths gift card in store (note only Woolworths not wish).. I don't know if it's still for sale now.

      • The BigW gift card can be used as wish card. Or use as eGift card in Caltex. Why Dick smith one is any different ?

        • Frankly I didn't try. That was before Groupon start selling big w gift card..

  • +3

Thanks got $1000 worth for 795!!!

  • I bought one, why do i feel it will be refused

    • +1

They honoured the deal last time..

      • Yeah, I've just had a string of bad run ins with DSE so went off them for awhile, just going to try them again, see if they have grown up

        • +1

I don't think Dick will ever grow..

  • can be used for online purchases?

EDIT:Think I answered my own question:

    Online Payment Options
Dick Smith online accepts the following forms of payment:

    Visa;
    MasterCard;
    American Express;
    Diners;
    Dick Smith Gift Cards
    PayPal.

Wonder if these will work on the vouchers they continually send out, ie $25 off xx purchase with code xxx every few days

  • it's taken off now

    • nope still works

    • Nope still there, you actually have to go through to the next screen

      • Oh Yes, it works, got myself $1000.

  • +1

someone give me a reason not to buy $1000 worth … im in a dilemma lol

    • +1

There are no reasons. I just bought a $1000 that I'll put towards the new iPhone later in the year.

    • yeah.. same.. lol

    • Can these cards be used anywhere else than dick smith?

    • Just bought $1000 worth. No use planned, but figured with all the deals DSE is doing and with a 20%ish discount already… well worth it.

    • -2

      it doesnt work anymore.

    • 12 month expiry…

Only got $100..don't have any big purchases in mind over the next 12 months.

Otherwise you'll end up flogging it on Gumtree.

    • +6

i caved in the peer ozbargain pressure and bought $1000 worth

      • Need new TV so it can go towards that purchase when EOFY sale starts, IF they HONOR it.

      • I'm glad I didn't bite, EC, I've resisted temptation! I haven't really bought much from DSE the past year, so it's unlikely I'll spend it.

  • Code doesn't seem to work on the gift cards.

    • +3

Click 'proceed to checkout' and you'll see the price change.

      • you are right

      • Worked, thanks!

  • +1

    I miss out again :(

    • +1

still working for me , just continue to checkout TA

      • +1

        just continue to checkout TA

Haha! Awesome work EC. Previous screen was showing $462.50 but checkout screen $397.75!

One of the deals of the year!

    • Same here!

      • +2

just continue to login with your email and you will see the discount

        • Thanks much!
Edited: To something more suitable to express my gratitude :)

  • i've never bought one.. can you use these online? i know some shops arent set up to use gift cards online

  • will the new iPhone be available upon release at dick smith? or will it take a few months to be in stock etc. or plan only?

  • Do they send a physical card or is just a code via email? Never bought one of these before.

    • -1

    • +2

      digital gift card

      • +1

Is it? Oh ok my bad.

  • +4

Friday morning and i am $795 lighter. Thanks OZbargain.

  • I ticked "I would like to use a Promotional Voucher", entered 17-digit DSE gift card code and clicked "Redeem" but it says "Sorry, we are unable to validate your Promotional Voucher. Please confirm you have entered the correct voucher code, and check for any exclusions before calling our Customer Service team on 1300 366 644".

7.5% + 14% is still good though so bought a $100 DSE gift card for $79.55.

  • +1

    still working

  • thanks

  • This will be ozb'ed I bet

The managers at DSE will shut down the code now.

    :(

Hope I still get the cards

  • Can these giftcards be used on ANYTHING? Even if you buy something at a discount? they don't specifically exclude gift cards on sale items?

Don't want to buy $800 worth of credit and then realise that i can't really use it..

    • I dont see why they exclude the use of gift cards on items. It's just cash.

You cant BUY gift cards generally with sales, which is the beauty of this one.

    • Can be used on everything.

  • Nice find OP. Tempted to grab one of these and wait for an awesome PS4 deal.

Also, does DSE match console bundles? (i'm thinking this one: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/195544)

        • Get her a good one, Apple product last a long time.

        • Do you know if they every have discount off the iMacs?..

  • "Temporarily out of stock"

    • They're onto us!

  • impulse buy?

    no i don't think so!

I think is a deal of the month (DSE wise).

  • Must have got one of the last ones as mine just went thru.

  • +3

How do you run out of stock of a digital gift card lol. Now waiting for the dreaded cancellation email.

    • maybe they had a quota for this promotion

      • Now I'm spewing I didn't get a $1000 card instead of the $500. May I ask a really dumb question… these cards can be used for multiple purchases, correct? They're not like the Jetstar gift cards where you need to use the whole thing in one hit, or forfeit the remaining amount?

        • +1

          correct. multiple purchases allowed

        • +1

          @easternculture:
You're a gun EC. Love your work.

        • Still remember how jv neg-raped so badly for asking a stupid-question which already in description

    • Do then generally re-neg on orders?
