There is stock in stores even though it is not showing in many places online - I suggest ringing the store first (but there was stock at Box Hill, for example)

2016 is due for release soon, so this is a good price.

    • +10

This is a subscription, not a perpetual license, and the subscriber will always have access to the latest version.

    • +2

Why a minus vote? I know this is a subscription so technically you get 2016 cheaper than what it'll be.

      • -1

Because no one knows if Microsoft are planning a price change to coincide with the new version.

      • +1

Don't know why you got downvoted. I don't think people understand that you will get the newer version when it is released for free if you are on the subscription based model. So it's a decent price since it is safe to assume the subscription price will go back to normal with the new release (doubt it will drop or at least go lower than this but only time will tell).

  • Might like to mention as well that it's a ONE year license and there are no disks etc

Keep your PC up to date with this 1 year license of Microsoft Office 365 Home which can be installed on 5 PCs/Macs and 5 tablets.

    • It's implied by Office Home 365, Otherwise, it would be called 'Office 2013', as you can only get Office 365 on a one year, Uni on four years, and 2013 forever. Nor can you get any Office Home 365 with disks.

You wouldn't say: "Playstation 4 (HDMI, extention cable and Playstation Plus not included)"

  • I've already got a subscription - wonder if I can buy another one of these and apply it to my account next year?

    • +5

      Yes it adds up.

      • +1

but can you claim the $25 if you dont activate it now?

        • You apply it now and it extends your sub

        • @Synk: So my current subscription expires in Dec 2015 - if I apply it now, would that extend it to Dec 2016? ….. or would that reset my expiry date to June 2016?

        • +1

          @cim85: Adds a year to Dec16

        • @plague69: thanks for that, much appreciated.

  • +1

it's ok. helps if you have a fast(nbn) internet connection. beauty is that updates are applied instantly over the net without going through windows update.

32 bucks for 1 year is fair price for 5 licences. I paid 99 for 2 pc/tablets for 4 years uni price so it's not a bad deal.

    • Unless you have access the MS HUP like most major companies have, full Office for $15 for 2 copies

      • +3

While this is true, don't forget that Office 365 also comes with essentially unlimited Onedrive storage for up to 5 users as well, and also 60 free Skype minutes per month. The Onedrive storage alone made it worthwhile for me getting the subscription.

        • i only get the office because of the unlimited onedrive, I just use the code at the office account website and dont even bother to install the office. best cloud service if you need more than 2TB storage.

  • Pity they don't do delivery.
    No stock nearby…

If I buy 3 of these does it work for 3 years subscription?

  • I got personal version from a free activation on a tablet, but I do not know whether I can activate home version on top of personal, Microsofts own customer service team has conflicting info on how the licences stack.
You can not get more than five years of subscription that's as far as I learn, but whether your newer home version pushes the personal version back for one years is still unconfirmed. Cause some rep claim you can't but office sales team claim the more expensive version gets priority then once expire, roll back to old version etc,
What I learn was, you can stack free personal versions if you got two or three of those tablet came with personal free.

    • can you install on another PC/MAC with you free activation on a tablet? I have asked a few times and no one can tell me.

      • yes you can, you can install on any device given you only need to activate on the device with the registration of the machine's activation key. Take for example I can use my Pipo X7 office key on my Mac. :)
but if i want another free version use on another device, i had to register with another Microsoft account or i can stack another year ontop of existing account.

  • officeworks doesnt price match cashback prices

    • they did for me

      • the terms and conditions say they shouldn't, and also the boxset is a different sku to card version,

so for two reasons you shouldnt of been price matched,

but good on you for getting them to do it

  • +1

this is actually a duplicate of

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/188166

the price hasnt changed other than the addition of cashback, Big W only marked down the Office 365 Box sets which are now phased out and replaced with the Office 365 Cards, as such the price i beleive only applies to anyone that can find a box set, they have plenty of cards in stock at their normal price

  • This is a pretty good deal. I paid $81 delivered via Dick Smith yesterday with $25 rebate to come. So this is another $21 cheaper.

According to this website you can stack up subscriptions.
    http://www.macworld.com/article/2150851/how-to-save-big-buck…

I haven't personally tried this. Can anyone confirm that this works?

    • I got 2 from HN last year when they had them for $74 ($49 after Cashback), and my expiry now shows as Feb 2017 - so if you add extra unique copies it just extends the subscription end date. I think it's slightly different if you already have the single license version - where you effectively end the single license version and start the 5 license version.

If only any Big W around me had some stock…

  • what happens after a year. Do you get locked out?

  • Just got $54 at brookside QLD due to family and friends 10‰ off. Less $2.60 for paypass rebate.

Dunno if the f&f is anywhere else and sorry I think I got the last one at brookside.

Just had to share this :P

  • Isn't this supposed to come with unlimited ondrive for a year ?

    • +1

      and some Skype minutes

    • It does.

  • Any complication in sharing this with 4 other students?

ie: Is it all bunched into one "folder" or account, or all branded with one name?

I doubt it, but thought i'd ask… as it's a mad deal - Seems WAY too cheap.

Gone are the days of paying $500-$800 (?) for full office suite, and for ONE license!!

EDIT: Tried 20 different Victorian post codes, showing most/all stores.
    "No Stock" at all.

Each account is unique that you setup - it has one master account that then sets up the other just using their email address. I've completed this for my family as well as parents so no issue. I can't see their stuff and they can't see mine. Personally I purchased this to auto backup each of our computers to the cloud. Was way cheaper than any other paid offering and even at full price is still worth the free storage space for each person.

      • +2

yeh i do same and works great. multiple users, windows and mac, in multiple houses, with multiple logins. and i run it across parallels 10- win 8.1 and OSX.. then my g/f uses one, my parents, a couple of people i'm helping out.. and it's all legal!! it just works too, updates are neat/seamless.. good value deal… and great solution part of the new microsoft!

  • There were 4 at Big W Box Hill just now - I got 2 of them
So the online stock search is totally unreliable

  • +2

OW wouldn't price match. Went to Kings way ow and the people over there were really stupid. They just wasted 15 minutes of my time

  • +1

Friendly reminder to all students that office 365 is now available for free for those with a .edu address :)

  • I was at Big W Keysborough VIC. They did have the $60 box but it was Home and not Home Premium.
If you are planning on getting it, would be worth checking.
I didn't bother getting it but there were 2 boxes left there.

    • From looking at it, it was originally released as "Home Premium", but they've rebadged it as simply "Home" now.

      The 3 non-business versions are:
      * Personal
      * University
      * Home

  • Why would you buy a subscription when you can get an offline version cheaper? Not to mention the horrendous privacy issues of using cloud storage.

    • Every major corporation now is moving to public cloud, what kind of privacy issues are you so concerned with? define your horrendous, you're already on the internet how much more private do you want?

      • -1

Horrendus privacy issues include the fact that Office365 will leech your documents into the cloud and expose it to breaches like this http://www.pcworld.com/article/214775/microsoft_cloud_data_b…

Use at your own risk, remember you have NO RIGHTS under the US constitution where they leech your documents to.

  • Appears that the online search shows that most Big W stores including Melbourne CBD is out of stock.

  • +1

Thanks OP. Just bought one from Hilarys,WA, apparently it still scanned at $118 but since website says $60 , they manager kindly marked it down to the website price . It actually comes in a card like iTunes card, hanging on the shelf , not in a dinosaur type boxes anymore :). Great bargain !! You got to spend your fuel and sweat to look in a local store , plenty hanging and waiting for ozbargainers .

  • Nothing in Macquarie park for home premium.
They had just the home for 1 user.

    • I think I bought the last one in Macquarie park on Sunday afternoon

  • just confirmed Melbourne CBD is out of stock cheapest option for me is Officeworks at $87 so I'll just wait for the next special to appear
