Woolworths Gold Pizza - Calabrese Salami & Mozzarella $7.99 Save $1

70

Not as cheap as the recent Dr Oetker Pizza deal, but if you really want a supermarket pizza with an amazing base and tasty topping I can recommend Woolworths Gold Pizza range, I have only tried the Calabrese Salami so far but its delicious. Edit: BTW, this isnt a frozen pizza.

Ive had it twice, and both times have added a little shaved parmesan to the top plus a few extra dried italian herbs (and a bit of tabasco for fun). The base is hand rolled, not your usual crappy frozen pizzas. They also do a free range chicken, and a prosciutto and goats cheese, plus one or two other flavours I think. I plan to try them all.

Quite honestly if I was served this pizza at a pizza restaurant I would have thought they had made and cooked it onsite. Just remember to preheat your oven nice and hot before cooking it.

It likely wont be in the same spot as the frozen pizzas in shops, try the cold meats fridge section I think.

"Authentic hand rolled sour dough pizza base topped with premium calabrese salami, imported buffalo mozzarella and fresh thyme. the calabrese salami is a traditional home-style spicy salami, both distinctive in flavour and appearance."

Let me know which flavour you try and how it tasted.

Yep…. piss poor discount I know. Its more of a recommendation of the product than a fantastic saving. I got one for about $4.80 the other day as a runout special, which was even nicer.

all of these are really good when you can get them that cheap, and they seem to be reduced like that quite a bit - presumably cos even though they're good, $8.99 is just too much for a supermarket pizza when we have delivery hero deals all the time and pizza hut deals and just being able to make your own pretty damn good one for that much…

Yeah I think they have a short shelf life basically as they are not frozen, so you may find some cheaper ones that are nearing expiry (the one I bought today for $7.99 was use by 6th June).

Unfortunately, Im in a smaller town with only 2 pizza shops so even at full price of $8.99 it beats their "gourmet" pizza prices. Plus you can store it in the fridge for a few days before cooking, I might even grab a few to take away camping this weekend and cook them in the webber or oven in our caravan.

      • Yes, great pizzas they are, I think better than dominos etc . Pity our local Woolies has stopped selling them.

They freeze well so if you see any at a good price because of the use by date buy and chuck in the freezer. The rocket etc is still fine after.

The other one are really good, genuine gourmet quality really, the base is perfect. Goats cheese is yummy.

Make sure to check other fridges, as our local woolies moved them around to a new spot… they are not in with the rest of the Frozen pizzas.

          @Gravy:
they used to be withe the square shaped fresh pizzas, they have stayed but the gold ones have gone. I should ask the store, very tired of them slowly removing items from the store.
we used to spend 100% of our grocery money at Woolies, now it's probably 50%, the other 50% divided between coles and aldi.

even something like pancake mix, not that we buy it often, but the Homebrand was fine and super cheap, now it has gone and their Select brand is there and almost the price of a brand name.
Pasta is the same, removed 2 Aussie brands, removed Home brand and replace all three with Select brand.
And they wonder why they have been going down the last few years.
Dried herbs the same, mayonnaise, sliced cheese etc etc. if I want select brand I may as well go to aldi and save a heap of dollars.

@PVA: the woolies homebrand cheese is really good for $6/kg. I bought it one day instead of the bega etc.. as they were all well above $10kg and nothing was on special and now its pretty much all we buy.

        • @Matt P:
the bega slices used to be around that price, increase by a huge margin then select came in at the old Bega price - thats the sliced cheese.

we also buy Gatorade, woolies always had a 4 pack for $8, since the start of the year that went to $15 but"on sale" every second week for $8. Coles normal price is $8.

I really think its our local Woolies, fairly well off area and some people either are to silly to notice or have too much money to care.
