  • Intersting note at the end hmm can be used for pc

    • They give a link to instructions for formatting the drive for PC use at the bottom of the specs page.

  • Add $30 & get a 1TB from MSY/Harvey Norman

    • With Firewire ports?

      Ozzie

      • Not that I can see on mine. It's USB.

    • MSY has the Seagate FreeAgent 1TB at $135. And the 500GB is $95. I can't find any pricing info for the Seagate FreeAgent on lasoo.com.au for Harvey Norman. Do you have any links for these prices?

      • Id you are after the Seagate freeagent 3.5in desktop 500gb usb2.0 external Hdd than go to Landmark computers (Vic) costs $89.Office works which is identical is well over $220.Try also For all the seagates like the one you need or other also at Magabuy, above is $91.If you wish to get it online there is a site called Umart Online and you will find just about everything there at good prices.Goodluck

  • I already own this and it is a nice enough unit but more noisy that any other HD I have had. I have it working on PC, it simply formats on setup. I do want to get a larger one as 500GB isn't really that big of a capacity for a stand alone unit looking to the future. From memory I paid $119 at JB HiFi (probably 6 months ago) so this is a good deal for someone provided 500GB will be enough capacity. I think there is a newer model and new packaging now so that is why these are being cleared out.

  • "It cannot be used for both platforms simultaneously" I doubt thats true, you just partition the drive into 2 x 250gig sections and format one PC and other MAC, then you could use it for both….

    • or install and NTFS read/write module to MacOS (ie MacFUSE NTFS-3G), format it to NTFS and read/write from Mac, PC and Linux…

  • MSY have:
    Lacie 1TB external $121
    Seagate Desktop 1TB $125
    Seagate FreeAgent 1TB $135

And I'd rather get an eSATA than Firewire one :)
    ASTONE 3.5" USB2.0 eSATA $119 @ AnyPC

    Just my 2c

    • Cheers for that.

I agree with your eSATA point; I've never even used firewire for a hard-drive.

  • Sold out now.

    • Thanks, updated the deal.

  • I bought one of these a few weeks back from catch, great for time machine back ups using FW.
1TB FW drives are far more expensive.

  • its an ok price, but everyone is doing this price anyway.
