    wow so cheap, never seen a deal like this…… . . . . . .

    • Dick is really going all out on this one.

  • Are these made in Japan?

    • +1

No. Thus they aren't worth buying (imho).

      • -2

I'm pretty certain the Panasonic branded ones are Japanese. Don't quote me on it though.

        • +4

Panasonic bought eneloop from sanyo a while back and moved manufacturing to china. If they're marked as sanyo then most likely they're japanese but 99% sure all panasonic branded ones are chinese.

      • may i ask why? im looking at wiki spec sheet, the later gens made in china have longer life 2100 cycles vs 1800 the sanyo japanese ones? only marginally worse on charge retention 65% yr 5 vs 70% sanyo ones
        thanks

        • The actual quality of them is subpar, I've had a couple sitting around which have much less than 65% charge (~0) when I go to use them. I've stopped buying Eneloops now and stick to HobbyKing's Turnigy brand (or originial Japanese Eneloop stock if any shows up), I've never had one of these fail yet, and I own far more of them than I do Eneloops.

I even considered returning these Chocolat's to DSE, but that would mean hunting down the entire pack between all our devices…

They are considerably inferior in quality according to some tests.

        • @Nyen: Thanks for the link, helps understand that the one model # can represent either Japanese or Chinese made product.

Does this mean ozB is going to need a go-to for LSD battery bargains?

  • Hmm… to go for a DS offer now, or wait for the inevitable incoming daily discount code, hoping it's not on the exclusion list. An OzBargainer's struggle. :-p

    • I've been holding out on Eneloops for a couple months now. Decided to just do it and get some before they stop stocking them.

My local stores never have stock for CnC…shame…decent deal.

  • No c'n'c stock in Sydney. only delivery.

  • +2

I find it hard to believe that no stores have any stock for CnC.
$8 postage kills the deal unless I buy a few packs

    • Yep agreed.
Customers have to pay for their stock management being complete rubbish.

I'm sure postage used to be $4.95 for small items a while back, now $7.95.

Should be a rule, if there's no stock in stores that you can still click and collect (after all it's their stuff up) … or even better free shipping on items when they are out of stock in store (especially when advertised to thousands in an email) to punish themselves financially for being incompetent.

  • Are the Dicky spec's accurate? I'm no Eneloop pro, but according to the model #'s and Wikipedia eneloop info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eneloop#Comparison_table then the discunted $14.98 Chocolate and Tropical are Panasonic Eneloops (BK-3MCCx - 2100 cycles) and the non-discounted $39.98 Rouge are Eneloop 3rd Generation (HR-3UTGB 1,800 cycles, 90% after 1 year).

Personally I'm going to give the Tropicals a try and compare them to my Varta's. Hoping the Eneloops will last more cycles.

    • Except none of my local stores have them, so not going to pay $7.95 delivery.

  • Wtf, I decided I'd get some and split the postage with my sister and they won't deliver to parcel lockers anymore. I've had loads of stuff delivered to parcel lockers from DSE in the past. What a pain!

  • Please dont mind me but I really wanted to know why OZB community is so excited for the Eneloop deal everytime it get posted. I noticed alot of people in the comment section joke about it too. Please tell me

Some of the best and widely available rechargeable batteries on the market with "low self discharge" and long life expectancy, up to 2100 cycles, when looked after properly.
The debate still goes on if the chinese made ones are as good as the older japanese made ones.

      • +2

        no longer the best..

        cos they are chinese now..

    • +2

They're good batteries and they're cheap compared to energizers and the like. However with $8 shipping it isn't a particularly good deal. In 2014 and earlier it was possible to get click and collect or free shipping but that hasn't happened for months.

Do we really need Eneloops anymore?
    ;)

    • Wash your mouth out with soap, lol
      I will checkout your link

      • LOL.
I've got about 50 of the damn things. ;)

        • Yeah, about the same.
Thou dont have many of their color packs, just a few tropical (kinda handy for tracking purpose).

As ilikeradiohead said, no recent super deals, like free post or C&C, etc..

    • 500-1000 cycles is a lot more than 8 :)

No Click and Collect. Put postage in title.
Meh… another day another DS post.

Frankston Bayside is showing as having stock for click and collect on AA Tropicals. I couldn't find anywhere else near Melbourne and that's too far away for me.
