    My favourite Silverchair album.

Freak Show was better. It was their heaviest.

      • +4

        Frogstomp was pretty heavy :P

        But this one's their free-est :)

      • Maybe for you but Ipreferred Neon Ballroom.

        I really liked 'Nevermind'

Silverchairs 'heaviest'? I mean, I get 'heavy' is a relative term, but Silverchair is about as heavy as Taylor Swift.

        • Let me guess: your definition of heavy is when it sounds like the singer could do with a throat lozenge?

@wasabinator: It certainly doesn't include anyone who started off as a local Nirvana cover band (I believe 'Nirvana in Pyjamas' is the correct nomenclature) and evolved into whiny indie rock for JJJ listeners.

not as good as gold or platinum chair

    • Yeah, Innocent Criminals was a better name.

  • Free music? Thanks!

Miss you love…and it's silverchair with the small "s"

    • A1.

      • -1

        A2.

  • so old… mind you nothing recent is very exciting
this does bring back some distant memories :D
small 's' ? but on the pic all letters are capitals ?

    • They changed it to a big S in 2002.

  • Says $9.49 for me, am I doing something wrong?

    • Says that to me as well. I suspect it thinks I don't live in Australia. I've got no idea how to correct that misconception.

  • Thank you :)

  • Thanks OP!

Are they as good as the Mormon Tabernacle Choir guys?

    • +1

      Is anyone?

      • -1

According to the royal commission the Vienna Boys Choir are right up there.

It would be nice if Apple did this instead of infecting every iOS device with U2….

  • Thanks OP! How does one find out about free Google play albums? Is there a mailing list?

    • +3
      • Yeah haha, just check Ozbargain regularly, most of the free Google Play albums usually end up getting upvoted to the main page

        • Have now subscribed to Google play on ozbargain :) now why did I not think of that

  • So is this free for the first month or free forever?

  • Still crank Frogstomp to this day, Neon Ballroom is also ace. 90's rock still canes anything made in this millenium.

  • I just can't get over many of Silverchair's lyrics, so damn lame.

    • There's no bathroom, and there is no sink.
The water out of the tap is very, hard to drink,
      Very hard to drink.

      • They were only 15 or something when they wrote that.

Sometimes/often, studio/live, lyrics don't matter as much as the passion in the performance.

I remember some proper goosebumps when I heard Anthem for the first time. More with this for anyone who missed seeing it on the teev, at the time

      • …grunge allowed kids to get into the business too, as it's dead easy to play. Johns tried to be Cobain too, double lame.

I always found their whole angle lame, sorry. There was always just so much better music out there, especially in the 90s. They were strictly for teen girls or those pop listeners who thought they were too cool for most chart stuff.

          Marto…
Maaaaate, I do get where you're coming from. Silverchair were no Nirvana. I bought Nevermind (hook, every line and cd) , but neither Frogstomp or Neon Ballroom (and missed this deal!)

I did see all the 'tomorrow' potential in Silverchair that was never quite fulfilled, and, yes, I did also buy into the 'kids from the wrong side of the tracks making it big overseas' narrative, even before they appeared on Letterman (for the first time).

          I also wasn't mis-remembering those goosebumps I mentioned.
I really liked Anthem (hence the highlight), and even have that Late Show audio (recorded at the time), on Minidisc, somewhere(!)

  • Hey how am i supposed to redeem the download? I have logged into my google play account, is there a code to redeem it for free? thanks

  • Thanks OP :)
