Swap a Can of Food for a Coffee (Latte/Espresso/etc.) @ Section 8 (Monday Mornings) [Melbourne]

880

Every Monday between 9am and 1pm, Section 8 will swap a can of food donated by you, for a coffee (Gravity Espresso).

Any can is acceptable HOWEVER these cans will be brought to charities so make it something good. If you don't have extra cans of food in your pantry, they can be found for less than a $1 at supermarkets. A coffee is probably around $3.50 so pretty cheap way of getting a good coffee.

Of course, donating your money or time is a great way to support charities.

I wonder how much this business claims back on tax for this?

    • +2

      I would suggest zero.

I was involved with a similar program that runs through DVD stores and offers free weekly rentals for a can.
It was 100% based on good will.

I guess there is always the chance of a new customer and a slice of cake purchase if someone comes for a free coffee.

I like these can donation events as you know 100% of the donation will be going to someone who needs it.

They can claim the cost to make the coffee.

  • I hope they like Beef-A-Reeno.

  • Would be interesting to see how many cans are collected.

  • Remember guys Greenseas Tuna is permanently $1 now @ Woolies.

Yeah actually probably not a bad choice … they look tiny but they fill me up for some reason. Lotsa protein maybe?

Absolutely love the idea, more places should embrace the concept. I have noticed recently that some Woolies & Coles have little cafes in the actual supermarket, so why don't they do the same since they can afford to shout a brew or two!!!!

i don't think you quite thought that one through :P
*goes to isle 9, picks up spaghetti, hands it to the cafe for a free coffee…

      • Aren't the cafe's outside checkout though?

        • never seen a woolies cafe so don't know :P

        • Not all, the one in South Melbourne is inside next to the bakery

      He said 'good food'.

      • what's wrong with baked beans?!?!

        • -1

More like Woolworths home brand. That could never be considered 'good food' in my book!

        • Personally speaking, coffee keeps me regular and baked beans softens the stool.

Put 1 and 1 together and you get too runny poo.

  • For some reason, this reminded me of this

    Surströmming

Seriously though, this is a pretty cool gesture by the coffee co.
