It's Dick Smith's Groundhog day sale, one day only!

    • +1

That's the quote of the day!!!

    • First thing I think of when seeing a Dick Smith deal is punching somebody.

    • 15% off items that are temporally out of stock.

  • +10

excludes everything you'd want to buy.

    • +4

      that's dick…

These pathetic DS "deals" need to die in a fire.. How do you block a particular vendor from appearing in your feeds?

    • Click on "Hide" then tick "Hide deals from store Dick Smith Electronics (DSE)"

other option is DS ebay store 281.78 and +50 voucher. If you are planning to buy something in July around that price would be good.

or buy ebay store, and claim price protection ~$35 and get the $50 voucher.

How come everything went up 18% just before 9am today ????

    • You are not even joking.

      What the eff.

    • +1

because they care about 300 customers wallets

      • I doubt that they would even get 200 customers buying anything.
Just wait more deals tomorrow. Ok same deals 24hr later.

    • lol is this true

    • +3

wow wtf…..pebble black was $104 (or $109) just few days ago and now its $149!!!!!!!

      • +6

Apologies, my mistake… That is a 37% price increase

        http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:IRlUmWj…

(it was $109 before this 'sale')

        • Good example - won't be posting Dick Smith deals anymore.

It'd be interesting to see a side-by-side comparison of prices two days ago (cached) vs. when a sale is on across a basket of products…

        • @french7656:

haha… and submit it to the Checkout!

        • +1

@french7656: If you don't post them, someone else will. Other people have done what you asked, see previous deals + associated spreadsheets.

    • +1

How come everything went up 18% just before 9am today?

As an example, this was $79 yesterday, and has been $79 for over 2 weeks. Not 18%, but you make a very valid point jv.

      • +11

        Ooops… Only a 13% increase on that one… Snap it up….

Maybe title should be changed to :

"Dick Smith 13%-37% Price Increase (-15%) limited to 300 customers"

        • LOL. You've got me with tears in my eyes JV. You're damn funny today!!

    • +2

      Tricky dicky

    • +3

Target is another one who does this on their sale products. For example when they have free shipping or 20 % off etc. They obviously don't account for us Ozbargainers who are little smarter than that.

      • In the long run this is very bad for there business. Once you lose the trust from consumers it's quit hard + expensive to get that trust back.

  • +1

LOL! All the stock for Click and Collect that has no stock is still on special but everything else is jacked up.

    • +3

      you sound surprised ?

      • LOL! definite sounded happy…

        haha….

  • Aaaand the code is gone

    • Still works for me. Were you trying to use it on an excluded product?

      • +1

Trying to get forza horizon 2.

        • Doesn't work for forza horizon 2 :( but works on other games that are full priced

I wonder how DS get away with these kind of "sale" by inflating prices before "discounting".

    https://www.accc.gov.au/consumers/prices-receipts/price-disp…

"Businesses may also mislead consumers about prices if they:

promote a ‘sale’ or ‘special’ price which is not in fact a temporary sale price, thus creating an unwarranted sense of urgency to make an immediate purchase".

    • +1

My understanding is that this fully complies.
Dick Smith uses yoyo pricing and do sell at the high or RRP prices, so this is OK.

The ACCC is to stop companies who always sell a product for (example) $20 and never sell more than that suddenly selling higher and then offering a discount. This is regardless of what the RRP is.

The way to get around this is to advertise discounts off RRP.

Pity everything I wanted to buy yesterday but felt was just a little too expensive has now been put back up in price. A Sony soundplate was $300 yesterday is $449 now for example

  • +2

Bad deal. Were looking for pebble 1 gen yesterday at $109 with $25 off coupon. Now price is increased to $149. Very dicky.

  • Damn. S6 isn't listed as an exclusion, yet code doesn't work.

Excludes Apple, Mobile & Broadband Products

  • New Kindle is available for $169.15 ex shipping.. Now I'm not sure if I should get one shrug. Kobo Glo HD looks pretty nice as well.

just got a nexus player :) thanks.

Makes for a relatively cheap Dualshock 4, ~$68. However, zero stock in stores nearby, home delivery similarly unavailable. Blurgh.

  • Yes 1 item in 4 different colours is tempoarily ubavailable. Let's all guess when it will be available?

  • Oops unavailable

I am negatively voting on this as it is not considered a bargain.

  • LG 60" (159cm) Ultra HD Smart 200Hz TV 60UF770T

Seems ok at $2,549.15 after discount??

    • +2

I saw this at Betta Home Living North Sydney yesterday for $2499.

      • Huh. Even better! No stock for C&C

  • +1

I was looking at http://www.dicksmith.com.au/laptops-notebooks/asus-chi-t300-… which is actually $40 cheaper than yesterday even before the 15 % discount. There was a massive 'almost everything on sale' that finished yesterday with dse so im assuming that's why all the prices went up. Same as anywhere in retail that has a sale I guess. I don't really see any price gouging here unless the price is higher than the 'usual price' before the last sale.

  • I was looking at the Logitech k400R keyboard during their everything on sale, epic, mayhem, one day only sale and it was $35.47. Today it is only $35.00 before discount. Equal cheapest on static ice. Thanks OP.

  • doesnt work anymore.
