Apparently these drives have logic boards so it won't be possible to open it up and put it in a ps4/xbox
seagate backup plus slim 2TB $130- $150 works in the ps4….i swapped it over this weekend. Put the 500gb back in the enclosure and you have a nice little external drive to use after. 2TB is the way to go…hit up the US PS store for some cheap digital downloads (in the last 2 weeks i have downloded shdow of mordor $23, lego marvel $10, tombraider $12, lego hobbit $10, Game of thrones $12 and Shadow warrior $7…with those kind of discounts the drive will pay for itself within no time
Is it as simple as copying all of your content from hdd to the other and then plugging it into the ps4?

The PS4 will do a fresh format so back up to another drive before you put the new seagate slim, then transfer your data back onto the PS4. I had about 300GB and it took around 5 hr to transfer

You cant transfer the contents of your PS4 to the new seagate external drive then take it out of its casing and swap the drives. I dont think it will work that way if thats what you are asking?.
Either delete whats on your PS4, swap drives and reinstall/download everything again (up until the last PS4 update you had to do this as you could not transfer data) or like i did to save downloading all the game updates again do a complete transfer of the PS4 contents onto a large enough FAT32 external drive. (not the one you intend to put in the PS4 but a 2nd external drive).
Then take out the 2TB 2.5 drive from its seagate casing (check youtube for a vid)and pop it in the PS4. you also need to download the PS4 software (700mb from the sony site) put this on a usb stick to lauch the PS4 when you start it up again with its new 2TB drive. Then plug in the external drive that had the PS4 backup folder on and transfer all your data back to the PS4.
best to google PS4 seagate backup slim…lots of info and a few vids that show how it is done. very easy just a little time consuming…..Just make sure you have the PS4 software downloaded on to a usb stick and a FAT 32 external drive large enough for your PS4 contents.
@soza: received mine today. Box was a bit beaten up but just took the drive apart and started re-installing the ps4 firmware.
WD drives CANNOT be used in PS/xbox - they have the USB connector soldered on.
Meaning also if you break the connector somehow = your data all GONE.
I want 4TB…
