If you miss out, the X-3 is worth considering at DSE today. $80 and some people prefer the sound to the X-5:

I got this (X-3) a few weeks ago from DSE (was $5 darer at the time). It's fantastic, leaves the JBL one that cost twice as much that I had before hand for dead.
And before buying I watched some lengthy video about the X-3 vs the X-5 which 'kinda' concluded the X-3 was better. And in the video the guy put it inside a sock, so he must know what he's talking about.

        • I managed to find an X-5 today, but then I saw the clip on YouTube comparing the two and am thinking I should have saved some cash and bought the X-3s instead. But I didn't realize they were on special. All good though, I'm happy with this. Perfect for the bedroom/kitchen for some Pandora streaming.

        • @stingydude: They sound very similar until you go to high volume. I think the X5 Has an inbuilt sub and also has handsfree speaker phone, I don't think the x3 has this but I could be wrong :)

        • @TRENT86: X3 does indeed have speaker phone too. But yeah, X-5 has the 'sub' so I imagine a bit more bass. Pretty happy with it (mind you, for the same price you can get the Logitech Z623 - different speakers for a different purpose and heaps more space hungry, but the sound on those is sweet for the price).

+1 for the X-3, very good sound for such a small speaker

      • so it's $80 plus postage? No click and collect option? Is there a free postage code?

        • Not sure unfortunately. I just saw it after I bought the X-5 and thought I'd post here in case people were interested. The price seemed quite good.

  • None on the Gold Coast.

  • None on the Sunshine Coast

or may be this deal…. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/167165
I wonder why am I not defined by this post where I tried to notify people of a deal just like all of you….But the accuser just hits and run…and wins coz its always easy to accuse…coz it doesn't need much brain or time…

  • Great speaker, I paid about $150 late last year. Good bass, excellent sound quality and well built. Excellent Bluetooth connection too!

  • Do you have to turn it off everytime you recharge it like SRS3?

    • but why would you leave it on without using it :-?

You still can use it plugged in but it won't charge.

    • I didn't turned off my x3 when playing through bluetooth

    • No. The charging on the X5 works just like your phone. Charge anytime you want or you can just leave the charger connected and turn on the bluetooth standby function. This allows it to wake itself up when your device connects to it, saves you from having to walk up to it to turn it on manually.

  • Good question… also does the volume drop significantly by itself once the batt runs low? Annoying when the X3 does that.

  • -5

Pretty sure yes have to turn off to charge

    • I had that problem on SRS-X3 and it is really really annoying

    • +3

      mackaxx, stop misleading others dude.

NO you do not need to turn it off to charge.

Charge it anytime even while it is playing. Heck you can even charge your phone at the same time with the included USB port.

      • awesome! thanks for your confirmation

Can't find any stock in Sydney CBD

Tuggernong ACT website shows limited stock. Rang them and call back by staff indicates no stock.

  • X5CD is coming, so X5 will clean out soon.

  • Any price match possibility given the limited stock?

    • Yeah it's always a possibility :)

  • This speak is better than Bose soundlink mini ? Sorry, I don't know any about speaker!

  • Well done guys. This deal as been ozbargained. I've talked to the guy in the Officeworks in South Melbourne and he said he noticed a massive influx of X 5 buyers today. Was like "wtf".

Officeworks website shows that South Melbourne has some in stock, that is in fact a lie.

    • 3 stores I called showed as 'limited stock' but none had it. 4th store had just one and it was in the cupboard. So low stock everywhere.

      • What was the 4th store :O

  • Thanks OP!!! : )

  • Not meaning to brag, but I'm verrry happy with my HP Roar Bluetooth speaker that we got for $22 delivered.

    TY OZB <3.

Just picked up the last one at Liverpool. Thanks OP

    • Yet no +vote?

  • Managed to get one from Highett, thanks OP.

  • I really wish there was a speak with bluetooth, airplay and chromecast. (Well airplay is optional)

  • Does anyone have an issue with it having a audio delay?

Tried 3 devices, tablet, laptop and phone all seem to have a delay over bluetooth.

  • +1

I've had no problem so far with SRS-X3, SRS-X5 and Bose Mini when I used my iPhone. However, I had delay problem with my dodgy nokia 530. check your phone or try to use other phones.
