[Price Error] $14.60 + Delivery: Verbatim? 2.5" SATA III SSD Drive 128GB @ KickStart Computers

Warning: This website has a dodgy looking website/facebook page. Legitimacy of both the merchant and deal are yet to be verified

Stumbled upon this while trying to scramble to get a HDD or SSD from the eBay sale before it expires, as my HDD in my desktop has finally died after 6 years (pretty sure it's my HDD!)
Then I realised the prices on eBay for HDDs and SSDs are not that flash, even after 20% off.
Also looking for a SSD (missed the PBTech deal) for the JB Hifi Acer laptop.

Based on the huge discrepancy in price between this and the next cheapest one as per StaticICE ($69), I have to assume this is a pricing error.

I have tried to obtain as much info as I can about both the store and the SSD itself as there is no description or picture, and I have never heard of the store.

In terms of the website/store, I have only found the following:

In terms of the model of the SSD, this is what I found the following by searching "model 47617 ssd 128gb".

I do not know if I am game enough to try this out.. anyone have any additional comments to add about the store or the product?

This will either be post or the week or worst deal ever, if merchant does not honour/if product turns out to be a dud.

Store's Facebook page (thanks ashtrayc2c)

The website looks dodgy as hell. Let me add that to the OP so it's more accessible.

I really want to bite but I am scared.

      • I can't seem to find an ABN or any "proof of business" at all… and that whirlpool thread with responses was from 2009… yeaaaah, not gonna bite this.

        • It was indeed from ages ago but I just tried to post whatever the hell I could find lol

        • I found their ABN via a google search: 31 564 429 203
First paragraph on this page: http://www.kickstartcomputers.com.au/conditions.php

EDIT: Also looked on Google Street View and apart from a primary school, that entire street is only suburban housing. So I think that maybe this is a home-based operation.

      • Cant find anything about price error in their terms and conditions
Being a small company, they would probably refund the money (such a hassle tho).
I'm going to wait until someone confirms tomorrow.

    Dodgy.

  • nice find op

  • no spec on website….
dont make any assumption based on the wording "model 47617 ssd 128gb"….
suggest OP to remove this post (or put a serious warning…)

  • +3

Ok I've added a warning in bold up the top lol

  • I read every single comment hoping it's legit so i'd bite but apparently eht dodgey.

  • Wish it was true but I don't think my well wishes will make this one any less dodgy :)

  • This is currently the only shipping method available to use on this order.
Courier - This cost covers 80% of orders, you will be contacted before payment is requested if any extra costs are incurred
Express Courier - Usually sent overnight although allow 2 days to be sure

I was going to take one for the team and order one. It seems they don't take payment until after it's manually verified. So if the deal is legit, it's a major price error. They might honor it, they might not. Can't be bothered spending $30 to find out.

  • prices on eBay for HDDs and SSDs are not that flash

    Boom tish!

  • price error, got a cancellation email

Then you have some spare cash - I've got the perfect deal for you! www.ozbargain.com.au/node/200869

    • +3

Oh you actually took a bite (even though you have no teeth!)

Thanks for that. I guess I can report this as price error now.

      • im glad i could shed some light on that for you

    Morning Al,
Unfortunately, there has been an issue with our database with the
product you are wishing to make purchase being alot more expensive that
    what was shown.

Due to the above i have canceled your order, sorry for the hassles caused.

    Your card was not charged.

    Warm Regards,

    Andy

    • i got the same

      • I thought I was special.

        ;(

You are special… to your mum.

    • alot

      • canceled

  • He's just a middle man for a whole saler. Prob works out of his home / bedroom / computer. I used to do this back in the day with leader. Diy and other wholesalers. List products. Put and order in. And then buy it from the whole saler and send it.

He won't be honouring stuff that's price errors.
