  • Gold Coast doesn't normally go via Cairns. Hope they haven't changed this to a permanent thing.

    • You are correct. Post updated :)

Phew, thanks. Just doing a search now and hoping they hadn't changed it. Makes going to Japan an easy thing with a direct flight.

  • Is this better than 2 for 1 deal?

    • Probably not.. Usually they'll release this and then after this sale will be the 2-4-1

    • These were the prices from the last sale (without extras like baggage I believe)

      • Cairns to Osaka $702.38 for 2 people
      • Melbourne to Tokyo $894.06 for 2 people
      • Gold Coast to Tokyo $901.96 for 2 people
      • Sydney to Osaka $1083.00 for 2 people

So for Cairns it's around the same, Melbourne $100 cheaper for the 2 for 1. etc

    • The 2 for 1 deal is much better. I paid less than $1000 for 2 in the last Jetstar 2 for 1 Japan Sale

  • if booking doesnt work use https://m.jetstar.com to book.

    • Does that tend to be more reliable ?

      • I dunno, but i tried with the main web version site and it would timeout

        • Go to the .com.au version. The .com handles redirects and can get a bit sluggish sometimes.

    • Great tip Turd. Thanks :)

Awesome! Now let me just put "Perth" in the departure list…oh. Damn.

    Great deals, TA!

Just test book and looks like Jetstar increase the luggage prices to $56 for 20kg. Very sneaky!

Don't remember the exact charges previously but surely not $56.

    • That's one way?

    • Is this direct or include a stopover? Standard jetstar price for stopover flights

  • $662.59 return from Cairns in Sep. The cheap tickets are gone! :(

    • +1

There's a tonne of seats at $352 return in September. Did you actually check?

      • The return flight for the dates I wanted to return is like $446. :(

      • From cairns.
Gold Coast is more like $510-$550.

        • As per the title, right?

  • Note Jetstar flies in and out of Terminal 3. It's a bit shit compared to Terminal 2.
And Ive never seen the TV Tokyo crew at Terminal 3, they are always at Terminal 2 for Youは何しに日本へ (Why did you come to Japan) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lWGczWFRlSw

  • You can get a couch/bus from the Airport directly to Ginza for $10, then catch the metro from there to wherever you're going. Most other options are pretty expensive.

      Please expand on this.

And what is a couch/bus? It sounds very comfortable.

      • I used limousine bus from Narita straight to various hotels in Tokyo for $60 plus included 3 days unlimited on metro subway. Looks pretty good for me.

        • I used limousine bus from Narita straight to various hotels in Tokyo for $60 plus included 3 days unlimited on metro subway.

I am aware of the current Limousine Bus deal for tourists. Also aware of the NARITA Express 14 day return ticket deal.

I want to know about this alleged $10 deal.

We offer information on the various best and most economical ways to reach Tokyo from NARITA in our listing.

      • I did this a few months ago and I cant remember which terminal it is at, 2 or 3. But it was the last bus stop in the main bus pickup area. You can only buy a ticket from the driver himself as opposed to the prepaid tickets from the counters. I caught the bus at around 2030 and they were coming every 30 minutes at this time.

Sorry I can't narrow it down further.

I meant to say coach/bus not couch haha, would be fun to have a couch with wheels.

  • This is a good price, currently on the Shinaksen to Kyoto at the moment from the last Jetstar deal!

Lucky you were not on the one from Tokyo to Osaka the other day.

Yep saw that on the news here, crazy right.

      • My girlfriend almost caught that train but luckily caught the train before it. If she had missed her original train…

        =/

  • Great.. There's been an almost constant Japan sale for the past couple months.
I need to get on board.

  • Last time I was there a few months ago it cost me about 3,000 yen from Terminal 2 to Shibuya on the bus.
However a friend went to terminal 3 more recently and said it was about 1,000 yen (iirc) from there in to Shibuya.
So I'll have to ask where/which bus to catch.

    • +1

Upon exiting Terminal 3, there's and area where you can purchase bus tickets. There are 3 booths as well as ticket machines. We bought tickets from the booth closest to the ticket machines. They where 1000 yen each ($10AUD) to Shinjuku. Hope this helps.

      • 1000 yen bus to Shinjyuku is completely new to me. All cheap buses are between NRT to Tokyo/Ginza station, I thought.
Please let us know where to buy this cheap Shinjyuku bus ticket.

        • Yeah,
I think the cheap buses are to Ginza.
But you can catch trains to anywhere from there pretty cheaply.

  • what about perth!!! :(

  • No business class?

  • After excitement about this promotional fare, I start having second thoughts about jetstar pricing tactics after a bit of playing with different dates and prices.

Example:RTN flight SYD-NRT cheapest $591 (just a bare return flight)
If you need a standard service like 20kg baggage both ways, inflight meals and entertainment,
that will add up to total of $840 mark or so then they charge CC fee on top of it.

Not entirly sure if it's really great value for the price as I am more and more interested in full service careers (such as Cathey, JAL etc) bargain flight deal than Jetstar. They still give you a small amount of mile (such as JAL) even for promotional fare. Sometimes it's a bit over $900 mark.

Dreamliner aircraft is very nice though.

BTW, I read a news that All Nippon Airways (ANA) will resume their direct flight from Haneda to Sydney sometime this year after 13 years of break or so.
I remember I took their flight once while Ansett was still code sharing with them…..
Looking forward to their flights coming to Sydney soon.

    • This same type of comment has been said over n over whenever there are cheap flights advertised on OB by no frills airlines.

Its simple, if you want full service, then pay the full price with the full service airlines.
If you want to add baggage and don't care about taking your own snacks, then its still cheaper then full service airlines.

    • Agreed. Got excited, worked it all out, barely cheaper than a regular QANTAS flight and shittier all over. Cheapest flights leave at 6:00am, so have to be there at 4:00am (so a midnight bus ride from Canberra) + $81 for anything above absolutely baseline service + luggage. Flights have at least one stop and are around 14hrs each.

So, it's $900 before booking fees and luggage, takes a long time and has no frills.

      • Comments like BlitzR sounds all fair enough. But my image about Jetstar was as LCC, they provide more valued service per money.
That means you can fly cheaply - this is only true if you strip even basic flight needs - ie. bags, inflight snak/meals/drinks. I believe majority of people normally needs access these services.
Then you opt in these services, it's no longer substantially cheaper than full fare career. (only marginally cheaper)

I remember once that out of sales period, you browse Jetstar flight to Japan, their price are almost same as other full price career, making me wonder what's the Low Cost about?

Again, if you don't need food and bags then full fare careers don't give you an option to opt these out, then you'll be a slightly cheaper to fly with Jetstar but I start thinking twice about the value for money flying with Jetstar…..

Lastly, Lack of direct flight ex SYD to Tokyo orOsaka is adding another factor that it's not most preferred career flying to Japan.
It's beyond my comprehension that they don't have a direct flight between two countries capital cities (SYD-Tokyo) - why oh why??

If you prepare less convenient way to travel - give up your bags, food and entertainment during flight, and also ok with checkin at 4-5am, crappy connection time (4-6 hours) which is all saving for a few hundreds dollars, then it is for you.
For me, it's beyond reasonable and justifiable convenience against its savings.

        • Understandable if you aren't in Cairns or Melbourne, since they are only the cities that offer direct flights via Jetstar.

  • Everytime I look at these Jetstar deals I am feeling like their staff recruited from OZB. They always gonna find a way to take that extra $50 off you somehow.

Still wished I booked that fantastic Cathay Pacific fare earlier this year, but sat on it too long. So I have now just booked this one!

  • Do you have to go with Jules Lund? Cos that's a deal-breaker for me.

  • +1

The 2 for 1 is much cheaper and worth waiting for if you can - we paid $420 return per ticket from Melbourne with the 2 for 1. We recently returned from a Terminal 3 departure and we got the Airport bus from the Disney hotels and they stopped at Terminal 3 to drop off no problem. It is easy to walk from Terminal 3 to Terminal 2 in Tokyo in case you want to get the train into Tokyo - about a 10 minute walk. They also have free shuttle bus.

    • Hi ozbarbara, Do you know approximiately when Jetstar run the 2 for 1 specials??
