          @unco:

Amen to your comment. Funny how insecure the Fandroids can get when anything iPhone is raised. People should buy want they want without getting crap from others. This was discussing the cost of an iPhone so not sure why the Android issue was raised at all. (But it usually is).

          @try2bhelpful:

Funny how insecure the Fandroids can get when anything iPhone is raised.

I don't need to feel insecure because I don't own Android.

People should buy want they want without getting crap from others.

What people buy is their own decision but everyone can express their opinion. Whether it's crap or good suggestion is up to the person reading the suggestion.

This was discussing the cost of an iPhone so not sure why the Android issue was raised at all.

Because ios and Android are the only comparable smartphone OSs available at the moment. If Tizen or Blackberry OS is as good as Android or ios I would have suggested that as well.

I never said ios is not good or Android is the best. I am talking about the value for money. I personally own a Macbook Air and I like it. But I would never have bought it for $1150. I got it for $500 during the eBay sale last year and I think that's the right price for it given it's low specs.

    • Some people like IOS, some are heavy invested in apps, some like what they have and dont want to learn to use android.

"no replaceable battery", most are going this way.

    • +1

Most people use these smart phone for internet things, using apps, making calls, they're not computer scientist who's interested in the OS itself.

Personally, I would trade my iPhone 3GS for the latest high end Android phones, but only so that I could sell said high end phones and buy another iPhone 3GS and make a profit. If consumer were to buy things, anythings, based purely on performance/price then there should only be ONE single product left standing in each product category, be it automobile, phone, TV, etc. Oh and then you'll have world peace too.

      • Personally my main wants are

        -decent camera with ois
-good battery life (6+ hours ost over a day)
-good screen at least 5 inches thats easy enough to see in direct sunlight
        -fingerprint scanner
        -metal frame

I would also like good front facing speakers

I want all this for around $500.

I have a 5s 16GB and use for 95% of my work. I use it to take lots of photo and make lots of phone call.

16GB is enough for me. I don't understand why people need more than that. I still have photo of my child on it and what not…

In fact my old iphone4 only had 8GB and i had no problem with the storage.

      • +2

Lots of users would find 16gb not enough, people that like to play 3D graphical games or horde apps would run out of storage real quick, and people that use their phone as media players for music and movies would also run out of storage real quick. Let alone room for photos. If you want to do all 4 of these things on your phone then 16gb will get you no where.

    • I personally don't want to play around with roms. I don't care about sd card slots or replacing the battery. Most users that buy flagship phones probably replace their phone before batteries need replacing. The only thing I have against the iPhones are their prices.

  • +2

Thanks OP. I would suggest people to wait out the next one and perhaps get a price drop or a better deal than this. Considering that you would be using it for a few years, a few months wait would be worth it.

This is an amazing indictment of Apple and society.

    A $900 phone.

Its on SPECIAL. It has 16Gb. Its not expandable so as to get you to spend $1,100+ ON A PHONE.

Holy hell how did it get to this? The sheer balls of a company who would think thats ok. But hey… $150 billion in the bank says that they are right and people are dumb.

    • They secretly increased the price for a couple of countries including Australia on Apple Watch launch day. This is to offset the rising USD.

      http://www.lifehacker.com.au/2015/03/how-apple-jacked-up-iph…

    • The new iPhone (expected for September 2015? So 2 months away) will surely break the $1,500 bar!

      • +1

Don't worry. Since the launch of Apple Watch Edition you'll soon be seeing Rose Gold iPhones for just $24,999.

Amazing how expensive IPhones have become, 900 for a 16GB non expandable memory phone is a bargin at 900. Yea I know it's the plus but shouldn't we have minimum 64GB or the very Least 32 in 2015 for 900. Apples 16GB, no 32GB has really pushed me away from them, it's a total insult to the buyer when they ommit 32 on such an expensive phone.

    • +1

well if you've been with apple for a long time you know that they do things like this for economic reasons, knowing that no matter what, ppl will come back to the product. Look at the amount of guys getting down voted by apple purists just for stating a fact.. that these days a 16gig NON expandable memory type of a phone should not be around let alone cost $900. Nothing surprising and neither Android guys or apple guys should be annoyed or excited here.. hehe this is just Apple being Apple … if its cheaper than usual its a bargain for Apple users :)

      • the omission of 32Gb items in the ipad and iphone smells fishy as hell to me

you can bet a whole group of turtlenecks workshopped this with Jony Ive as part of their master plan

        • hehehehe it was def a setup to sell a phone that gave them a better profit margin, i would dare say the difference in manufacturing cost of a 16 gig vs a 64 gig iphone/ipad would be very small … so i imagine most retailers inc apple shops probably have been told, hey just mention that 16 gig isn't enough and see if u can get a few hundred more out of the customer … ;)

  • +2

iPhone 6s just around the corner with 4K video, 12MP camera and 2GB ram….

    • Confirmed specs or rumor mill?

      • +1

Rumor … some of them tend to end up true but expect the same phone with small differences internally and expect to pay more than this:) so waiting is relative to what u want to spend… if u wait long enough u can get a iphone 8 based on the "next versions coming out soon" theory …hehehe

  • fantastic price…if only i could justify 900 dollars on phone.. i would have purchased it..

  • 899 will buy me a tablet and a smartphone.. android forever!

      • These are quite nerdy but, they are not Chick magnets!

        • SuperCar is real chick magnets, not an $1k iPhone.

Not a very good deal guys….

    Found it for $829 here

Plus it was $700 on eBay last week with 20% off

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Apple-iPhone-6-Plus-Smartphone-Facto…

    • +1

That is $829 US plus shipping so it is not cheaper. And it is not Australian stock…

    • +2

      Found it for $829 here

You do realise that's in US$, plus $29 shipping makes it around AUD $1115.

      • Yes, the exchange rate is not good right now. it will be more expensive your right.

    • $US, 97.6% Positive feedback

    • lol, yeah, last week, you are correct, last week

      • shix, how can i change my vote, typo!

  • Sales guy in JB Hi-Fi last week told me definitely NOT to buy the 16GB as the memory is just too small. Now it's on promo at JB. Sorry JB can't buy as your sales guy told me not to…

    • 'Sales guy told me I should totally buy something more expensive'

      • He said IOS 9 would take up most of the memory. Have to agree…

    • mammy's boy?

      • My mammy looks nothing like that. She has more tattoos.

  • +2

16 GB, just don't. It's criminal Apple is still selling it.

  • Great deal for a great phone. I'm sure the size won't matter to some people.

  • +4

My girlfriend always told me size didn't matter… until I bought her a 16gb iPhone!

  • +1

For anyone interested, Officeworks has just matched the price with free delivery. See here.

Man… I got my LG G3 for $359. Who pays this much for this overhyped underpowered garbage? I get that it looks nice and I get that the OS is smooth and easy to use, but come on.

    • +1

I get that it looks nice

there ya go. you don't see paris hilton wearing cargo pants and a bum bag

      • "I dont wanna die !!!!!!"…In case you are clueless , google Paris Hilton Prank

  • I got a 16gb iPhone 6 plus too. I can't wait till I activate my new phone feeling in September. My usage milage doesn't fit with the severely restricted storage size. Photoholic and app hoarders will find this storage size severely restrictive.

Oh and cloud storage won't help mitigate the storage issue much. I know….

  • $899 for a 16GB phone. Sweet Jesus.

  • You would think for $899 they will give you a minimum of 32gb or 64gb. The non expandable storage on such an pricy phone is the let down on otherwise a good deal I think. 16gb is not even the usuable space when you consider the OS as well.

  • September is coming in 2 months time.

  • +2

Plenty left at JB Brisbane Albert street.

  • Edit: Price Error! Now it's $1350, damn!

Probably a better deal from mobileciti, iPhone 6 plus 128Gb, $975, claimed to be AU stock

pfft, just get a K3 Note for $150, job done.

I have a $200 phone (tcl s950) which is two years old and has similar specs to this but has dual sim and expandable memory

people really need to consider these cheaper chinese options.. if not, the nexus, asus, xshot are all great phones for better value

Will 'plus' this deal as it is a good price for what they are usually asking

  • anyone know if i can put more than 2 jb hifi giftcards in online payment?

    • +1

You can use a maximum of five. I got caught when jbhifi had their camera sale a couple of months ago with only $100 cards.

  • an oversized phone with a laughable amount of memory, no wonder they didnt sell and are now trying to offload stock cheap

  • work issues 16gb iPhones or blackberry and guess what majority picks?..and it is fine, but I want a separate personal one…although 6+ is too big.. should I wait for September? I have a $150 voucher too to use
