  • Cheap holiday!

  • Does Philippines have Uber?

    • +3

Sure does - makes sitting in the crazy traffic a little bit better.

    • +3

It does, but Grabtaxi is more popular, Easytaxi is second, Uber is coming third at the moment, but that will probably change.

    • +1

yes. but you MUST fly there. Trials of driving via the Uber service from Australia to the Philippines have gone very poorly indeed. You will need this flight as well.

  • +1

Can't complain about the hard seats and delays at this price, it's a steal !

  • +2

    cheap as chips

    • you are buying your chips from the wrong place.
      $160 odd minimum chips? :D

      • +2

a plane load of chips :p

  • avoiding the school holiday period which is smack bang in the middle of this period

    • Thanks… save those seats for my family

  • any good as a connector to Tokyo?

or better off looking for a direct Jetstar sale

    • +1

From what I'm seeing it's about $500 return from Manila to tokyo so I think you're better off going with the Jetstar sale.

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/200996

      • You'd probably be on a fully featured airlines from Manila to Tokyo instead of Jetstar (ie, luggage and meals included). Once you add your extras to the Jetstar fare it would be a near run thing.

        • True, although personally i'd prefer to go direct with a bit less comfort as it will greatly diminish the time it takes to get there. I suppose it depends on the person! :)

  • nvm

  • I'm gonna be in Manila in December and I was able to find some cheap flights from Manila to Osaka. P10817 or about AUD316 return for my wife and I. I'm happy :)

Edit: I had to switch from the Australian website to the Philippine website. Not sure how it'd work if you just booked from the Australian website.

wish these guys would fly from the GC, any plans?

  • Where would you guys recommend to go in the Phillipines over the Easter break. Was thinking or Boracay but tickets from Sydney to Boracay are $1k return!

    • why is it 1k return? its $160 for the sale assuming you can select and then just need to buy domestic which hopefully isn't alot

      • SYD-MNL is $160 return but SYD- BMPH (Boracay) comes up as $998 or somethign like that. Might have to book two individual trips.

        • yes of course you have to book 2 individual trips. domestic flights should be no more than $100 return.

      • Domestic flights to Boracay are priced really high at times, can even be a few hundred AU. Almost got me last time.

        • +2

Looks like MNL-MPH is about $130 return so just under $300 to go sunbake on a beautiful beach. Cheaper than flying up North over easter !

    • +2

Depends if you like busy places or quiet places. But either way, as long as you're going where there are beaches, it's hard to go wrong in the philippines.

Just be prepared for fatty american foods, bad traffic in manila, rubbish mobile networks, and random delays. But that said there are countless beautiful locations/beaches and lovely people.

Fly to Manila and then to Palawan (flight to Palawan will probably be 40-60 each way)

Borocay is nice if you like jostling with tourists and swimming in sewage

      • yeah palawan might be a way to go

      • book the flight with cebu air as well too?

        whats the destination?

        • Yep. Best to use skyscanner to check though coz sometimes Philippine Airlines is cheaper.

Puerto Princesa is the airport. You take a bus up to El Nido from there.

        • AirAsia is often cheaper during one of their many sales.

        • Yes, book with Cebu Pacific. Palawan should be your first choice, but you can also do fly to Dumaguete (Diving) in combination with Siquijor, whale sharks on Cebu island (in Oslob) and Panglao/Bohol island, whatever you can fit in one trip…. fly back to Manila from Cebu.

    • fly manilla to godofredo airport for a $30 each way

  • very cheap indeed =p

  • I thought this will be a far cheaper option to go to Philippines for a holiday and then go to India for the T20 cricket world cup in March/April 2016 but not really.

  • Just so everyone knows, they have $49 flights from Melbourne to Sydney, available on the same days as the flights to and from Manila. Without luggage fees etc you can get return flights from Melbourne for around $288 which is less than half price.

    • Flying with who? Jetstar?

      • Oh yes, sorry I forgot to add the airline. With Jetstar :)

    • $49 thats pretty cheap ,,, i'm sure it can't be that cheap its normally $100 each way lol unless you go at one of those ridiculous times like 6am im assuming?

      • They ranged from $49 to $95 and the $49 (on the day I was looking at.. seems some go up to 110) flights are at 3:35pm, 6:20pm and 8:45pm. There is also $55 flights at 6am and 9:05am :)

there's not a lot of $49 fares it seems, but the ones I listed above are for the 16th. You'd probably struggle now to find ones that match up though as a lot of the cheap Manila flights seem to have sold out.

  • Likely they would mean both. That is what my family and I are doing in around 8 weeks (a previous deal). Got the Melb-Syd leg for just $35 and I live like 10 mins from Avalon. :)

  • Looks like there arent that many $99 seats to manila in march available (seems to be only a handful each day - neither Mon or Fri flights available for that price at all)

Thank you OP - managed to snag some flights to get to a wedding! Now to connect from Melbourne to Sydney…

  • +1

Thanks OP. Another scuba adventure in the Philippines made possible by $300 return fares.

If anyone is heading over between 12 March and 27 March solo for scuba diving, I'll be heading to Coron to do some wrecks.

  • damm my flights for april just went up ..! oh wells missed out grrrr
    next time i suppose lol

  • Malapascua Island (northern tip of Cebu) is also a great spot if you like diving.

Take in the Thresher Sharks and the Hammerheads….

  • +1

Thanks OP, love these less than $200 deals. I already have one booked for next month and now again in April.

around may next year, was able to find ongoing Manila —> Seoul for about $245 PP return so looking at under $400 PP return to Seoul and can spend a few days in manila. would be an awesome holiday for me so tempting !!

Thanks for sharing as always seamonkey and thanks for the PM :)

  • You could also check out Bantayan Island. Bantayan has beautiful clear water beaches but avoid it in the rainy season as the water gets murky but in the summer it is clear as crystal. Some more info on Bantayan here http://bantayan.info I would also get a decent bus there, make sure it's has air con and go early from Cebu as it takes nearly 3 hours to get to the ferry. Well worth it though for a scenic and peaceful holiday.
