do they actually range the literally 1000s of products that seem to be always out of stock or is there website just for show?

I think it might have something to do with the fact they are importing food items via ships from America that have a short shelf life.

      • +1

True but surely after all these years you could come up with an inventory/ordering system that ensures at least most of the products are always in stock?

        • its not that bad. if people click 'Email me when this product is back in stock' then they can gauge interest in what to prioritise when they order stock.

Thanks OP, been waiting for one of these to stock up on my cereal addiction!

Shame so many things are out of stock. :(

I wonder if they still leave you waiting at the counter while the old bag ignores you [you know they guy who is trying to pay and bring you money] while she continues to ignore you and gas-bags on the phone?

I SHOULD HAVE DROPPED MY STUFF ON THE COUNTER AND STORMED OFF! STUPID ME!

TRY at least to act American and smile a little and remember [ok at least pretend] the curtomer is king and take my money….

Old food no stock brah. Wtf!

  • Franks Red Hot Sauce is the best hot sauce I've ever tasted.

It's not the hottest by a long shot, but it's mix of vinegary flavour and cayenne peppers is awesome on crumbed chicken, especially chicken ribs……mmmmm.

Thanks OP, time for my yearly purchase of their 1 gallon (3.78 litre) bottle.

I'm lucky, I live in East Bentleigh, and it's the same distance for me to Cochranes Rd as it was when they were at Bentleigh station.

I've visited this website several time over the years, what I've noticed is that a lot of things are always out of stock. And when they are in stock the expiry/best by dates are horrible, look at their peanut butter best by dates some of them are already past the best by.

Dude are you for real? Remember they have to GUESS demand and then sea-freight goods in bulk, they can't just have 3 cans of something on the shelf and gradually order a couple more in as they sell out. There is no next day food service van they order from. They have a massive range and the prices are really quite reasonable considering the risk involved for them. You need to accept lines will frequently over sell or be over date.

      • Yea screw me for being unrealistic and not wanting to buy marked up foods past their best by date!

These foods (like peanut butter) normally have 2 years of shelf life when they're manufactured. 2 years is a lot of time to guess.

I wouldn't count on their website being very up to date either. The Franks Red Hot Sauce that I picked up today says "best before Jun 20 2016", but says "best before 26 May 2016" on the website.

They had 3 staff working (and I use the term very loosely) the counter today, and they seemed more interested in the Youtube video that neckbeard #1 was flashing around than actually serving people.

I'd give them a call if the item you want appears out of stock, make these slackers work for their dollars.

      • They do have the worst customer service I have experienced outside of the early days of group buying. I think it comes from the management on down, based on the ordering information.

  • They usually have a good range of Ben&Jerry's at a reasonable* price compared to the shops.
Should bring it down to about $8 or so for a pint.
*If by reasonable you are happy to pay $20 a liter for ice cream

  • do you think i can order online, then collect a week later?

  • I commented above that they have the worst customer service. I would really like to reiterate that. Today I got an email headed "your order is on the way"

I thought maybe they have put some new systems in place. Maybe they have got their act together. Maybe I should go back and retract my statement.

    No.

I opened the email because they often don't ship whole swathes if items and I wanted to see what I was missing out on this time.

Instead of my order actually being on its way, this email said that there would be a delay but they were working as hard as they could or some other rubbish.

WTF. They should never say it is on its way when in fact it is a longer delay than their normal extraordinary one.

I wish there was another option for some of these items. Every time I deal with them I am disappointed. Apparently it is the same in store.
