      • I wonder what they call a Brazilian in Brazil?

          a 'Local'

        • +1

@jv: Hi, I'm here to get a local

        • +1

          "menininha" "raspadinha" "peladinha"

Funnily enough there's no proper "portuguese" word for it…But all of the above will be understood.

  • Cheers for adding Hobart again IWTF, TKS. $25 extra out of Hobart is a bargain, pity it's not for October when I am looking to go "somewhere".

  • Looks good. ImI'looking for one way though

  • I assume these are via abu dhabi… 50 hours….

    Is this normal lol…

so SYD to GRU via JFK is ~30 hours…

I'll tell myself 20 hours of my time is worth more than $500… makes me feel a bit better about the Qantas flight :\

    • Abu Dhabi is a wonderful city.. Worth the stop to have a look around..

Great place if you like to play tennis…

That ofcourse is Dubai not Abu Dhabi.

    • spend 2 days in abu dhabi and you'll see the value.

These prices have been around at least from last week. I even bought a Sydney to Sao Paulo return trip last week for $1500 to spend Christmas and NYE in Brazil.

As pointed in some comments, it is a super long flight (30h) so better take advantage of the Etihad Stopover in Abu Dhabi or Dubai (there are free buses connecting Abu Dhabi airport with Dubai). Personally, I booked a two night stay at the Grand Millennium Al Wahda Abu Dhabi for AUD$130 in total. It´s a 5 star hotel and looks good.

I´m even taking advantage of double miles and other perks thanks to the Etihad Gold card match posted on Ozbargain a few months ago. For the ones who missed that offer, maybe the status match with AirBerlin could work as well.

    Boa viagem!

    • na man isn't it 50 hours?

      • My return trip is around 30h including a short stopover. On my way to Brazil I opted for the 2 for 1 night stopover in Abu Dhabi.

The shortest would be Qantas/LAN through Santiago or the new route of Air New Zealand to Buenos Aires.

On a related note to do with South American destinations, Turkish Airways is starting flights to Bogota, Colombia in September from Istanbul (unique flight path indeed). So they may have a sale on flights soon - i guess. So from Australia you could go low cost carrier to Asia and connect with Turkish airways services to istanbul. Long journey though.

  • AUH airport is terrible, the new terminal can't come soon enough!

  • For me the special discount of $78 disappears when I select a card payment. I'm flying from Perth with the return price of $1243 but it jumps to $1321 once a card is selected. Does this happen to anyone else?

      Hi fruitbox,

We include standard CC fees (Visa and Mastercard Credit) on our displayed prices. One of our suppliers (travelgenio) only includes Visa CC in their final price (and Maestro, if anyone has that) and Mastercard incurs a fee. We are negotiating with them to have the Mastercard fee removed or included in the final price. Visa is correct, however. If this doesn't answer your question, please send me a PM.

      Cheers.

  • Damn, got me again!
Only get to do half of Australia Day next year :)

  • What about flights in reverse?

Originating in Sao Paulo to Australia, return.

How can I get it for a similar price?

    • +3

      Sorry, planes only fly forwards.

      • Haha,

        Good one Muncan.

        But I was being serious.

  • Are the sept flights on sale too? 1440… Sounds like the usual price
