I think price reduction is due to this particular model being discontinued. Couldn't buy it at this price before because sellers wouldn't ship it here.

Yup, people who buy this have their own idea of what tripod head to buy. I intend to use it with a quality lightweight head for traveling so the total weight is less than 1.4kg.
A quality tripod is like a wife.. you still need to pay money for decent head..

Among all Gitzo-wannabe tripods, I like Sirui the most.
I bought my Sirui N-2204X a couple of months ago for AUD$299 delivered. It looks broadly similar to the larger Induro 64 inch model, except it folds over on itself which shortens the overall length by about 100mm (with ball head attached) when compared to the smaller 55 inch model (listed here) and about 300mm shorter than the comparable 64 inch model, and has the detachable leg / monopod option as well. As far as I could tell, the Sirui tripods generally had a better rep than Induro (although they were certainly up there).
Sirui N-2204X Carbon Fiber Tripod 4 Sections Height 162cm Support 15kg Monopod - from hkbns-australia (eBay seller). Also got a Sirui K-20X ball head, and it is very nice.
Their stock comes and goes, but the last time saw it with them, I think it was AUD$319 delivered. Currently out of stock, but priced at $595 at Mainline Photographics in Oz.
I think the Sirui N-2204X is probably a better buy for anyone wanting a compact CF Gitzo clone tripod.
Quality tripod … I bought the CT-414 some time ago. Not cheap … but a bargain compared to others with that quality. You buy a tripod only once … :-) Don't forget that this does not come with a tripod head … you need to purchase one seperate …
