M… "$3000 every month for the first six months"… Citi is less generous.

    • This would be extremely hard if you're single/couple. With a family it might be doable. Definitely not doable for me.

      • Same some months i may have IT training but 6 months in a row maybe buy prepaid card that inturn used to pay off creditcard

Its not an additional 60,000 points - there is only one set of 60,000 points:

For a limited time you could earn up to 60,000 bonus Qantas Points when you apply for the Citi Qantas Signature Card by 31 August 2015 and are approved.
Simply spend $3,000 in a month on eligible purchases using your new card and you will receive 10,000 bonus Qantas Points1. This offer is available each month for the first six months, providing you with the opportunity to earn up to 60,000 bonus Qantas Points.

Note $49 annual opt-in fee for the Citibank Qantas Rewards Program applies from approval.

I know what you mean, but i mentioned 'additional' as it should be on top of the points you earn for your spend of $18000 in the first 6 months. Have to say it isn't the best way to earn easy QFF points but $3000 spend on a Visa is pretty normal for certain families.

  • Hmmmm yeh. Not sure if I've seen such a requirement for getting ff points before. 3K spend pm for 6 months.

Imagine how many eneloops and sdcards I could get with $3000 each month for 6months!

    • What about $3000 sportsbet deposit and then cashout?

      • Look like cash advance. Heaps of fees!!

      • +1

From previous experience citibank won't let you use the credit card to deposit for sportsbet and online betting.

        • I'm sure they'll let you buy a fully refundable airfare though ;) just make sure it really is fully refundable

Alternatively, book fully refundable accommodation from the likes of HotelClub, Orbitz, Hotels.com

        • Yeah… I remember reading a few years back, someone was making a $5000 sports bet or similiar bet, then cashing out.. and it'd give them like $50 worth of points each time.. he limited himself to do it every couple of months, just so it wouldn't attract attention.. but yeah, they've obviously cottoned on by now..

        • @Vladdo: I don't think you can cash out of sports bet/most bet sites without turning your cash over can you? I.e. you have to bet..i remember i once wnated to cash out and it wouldn't let me.

        • @poop: I don't honestly know.. possibly.. I don't gamble.. But I do remember in the early days of all these sites that you could do it.. they've probably fixed all the loop holes etc, and I bet it's mostly to stop money laundering..

        • @illumination: wouldnt the refund come in the same credit card and citibank get to know of it ?

        • @Harshangs:
Yes but as long as the wording of the actual promotion is that you just have to make a purchase, then it shouldn't be an issue. If it says something like:
Make $3000 worth of eligible purchases*
          * excludes ATO transactions and refunded purchases

then maybe you won't get it.

It is up to them to exclude it via their wording of the T&Cs of eligible transactions.

    • ~1600 Eneloops or ~750 SD cards per month excluding postage.

Just check if you can pay the kids childcare by credit card, ours do….probably get one for the Missus and me, Sydney is expensive :-(

Yikes! 3k a month on "eligible" purchases doesn't sound like a fair deal compared to the ANZ Black Card.

  • Someone give me $18k?

  • They are either targeting the ultra high spend clients, or intentionally setting the bar too high.

    • …or both..

Ripoff. Not worth it. Plus you have to deal with citibank who are by all reports absolutely WOEFUL.

    • +1

Its worth it if one already has that spending pattern.

I must agree though, citibank is pretty difficult to deal with (depending on your city). Even citigold service. If you have experienced citigold service in other countries, you will know exactly what i am talking about.

      • You are full of it buddy. I've had Citibank answer the phone within a few rings every time, without fail I encounter staff who know their stuff and go put of their way to retain your patronage. They even wiped off all my application fees and a bunch of other mistakenly charged fees without argument. Later went on to change my loan to 0% interest FOR THE LIFE OF THE LOAN and they are allowing me to draw down again in the future at 0%.

        • +3

Then your level of service is above most people's experience citibank or not. I am sure people on here will agree. No need for personal attack m..buddy…. You sounds like you have an alterior motive.

          Are you with citigold?

        • @scheps: I have a line off credit account, I think it may have been branded platinum or some such. I don't even call any different number to what is on the website, I get fast service every time. By comparison to the likes of Ubank who never call at agreed times, never return calls and refuse to correspond in writing they are much better. I find Citibank comparable to CBA though CitiBank operates its lines over better hours. No motive but to help people like Citibank have helped me. Got a 7.5% return on the $18k they loaned me by repaying my HECS early. Better than paying it by way of extra tax with no bonus.

  • Certainly worth it if you are going to use this to pay off your HECS/HELP , renovating your home or paying off a car or engagement ring in monthly installments.
