Gold Series HDMI Cable 3m $9.30 @ Dick Smith

32

Looking for a cheap 3 metre HDMI cable and found Dick Smith Gold series cable for $9.30 click and collect on their web site. Apparently it is cyber Monday and so I purchased the cable so I could have it today. I picked it up from the store and the sales guy was very surpised at the price as this cable sells for around $60 normally he tells me. It seems like a very sturdy cable with gold plated connectors and the cable is braided rather than plastic. It is rated for 4K data transfer so must be OK with what I will use it for.

The sales guy also gave me a $10 off coupon to use on my next online purchase which you could say I got the cable for free.

I would neg this deal but last time I did 3 negs in 2 months and got suspended from negging for 3 months.

DSE rarely seems to have genuine bargains anymore. Perhaps 10% off retail if you're lucky. There are exceptions but they're few and far between and they deceptively advertise everything as a "mad" or "crazy" bargain.

But maybe the OP really liked the braided cord? I mean they do look really nice once you hook them up behind your TV or whatever where you can't see them!

Still, plenty of those at comparable prices also: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/0-5m-1m-1-5m-2m-3m-4m-5m-8m-10m-1…

And check this one out: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Premium-4K-3D-HDMI-CABLE-Gold-Pla…

Ferrite beads? Really? They can help with analogue interference but when are people going to accept that we're dealing with digital signals here!

      /sigh

Gold plated connectors are meh as well.

But whatever. If you enjoy your cable it's all good ;)

  • Good find.
Although double the cost of MSY cable. I would buy if I needed one.

Expensive for an HDMI cable, but cheap for an HDMI cable from a retail store that has many locations.

  • $5 on ebay, all day, ever day.

  • The Dick Smith Gold HDMI cables are good, but they drop to around $6 quite often.

  • Don't be too harsh on the OP… At least they got a $10 off coupon, if that's useful for something…? (unless it's "spend $100, get $10 off or something similar, in which case, sorry pal)

  • Purchased the 5 meter at this price 2 weeks ago . Bargain ?????

Only a deal if you can get that $10 coupon.

I got this exact same cable a few months ago from DS for around $6, pretty good build quality. The guy who served me also mentioned the $10 voucher and said that I "basically got the cable for free". Well the voucher I got emailed had a $50 minimum spend so its more like spend $50 get a free cable.
