  If this is their first bike, I recommend buying a balance bike. Once kids learn to balance on two wheels adding pedals is trival.

      We purchased ours from OneDay, but there are plenty of options. The $39 one from Kmart is similar to what our youngest rode.

        Our little guy wasn't too keen on the wooden one. He said it hurt him. The seat is quite wide and almost flat across as opposed to a normal style padded bike seat.
        We got him this one instead!
